Worthington released his latest album When I Write the Song<\/em> in 2025<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Jake Worthington is taking a step back from music.<\/p>\n On Friday, May 22, the country star shared an Instagram post<\/a> revealing he planned to take “some time” away from his career.<\/p>\n “I live a life as my heroes did, but that life gotten ahold of me,” Worthington, 30, wrote. “I love my family, my friends and my fans too much to let it take over me.”<\/p>\n He continued, “I need to take some time to work on myself for my wife and daughter.”<\/p>\n Worthington then promised he “will come back even better.”<\/p>\n “God bless country music,” he said.<\/p>\n Worthington received support in the comments from some of his fellow country artists.<\/p>\n “La you bro! \ud83d\udc4a,” Dierks Bentley<\/a> commented on the post.<\/a><\/p>\n Never miss a story \u2014 sign up for<\/strong> PEOPLE’s free daily newsletter<\/strong><\/a> to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.<\/strong><\/p>\n Carly Pearce added<\/a>, “this takes a lot of courage. proud of you! \ud83d\udc4f.”<\/p>\n “I\u2019m here for ya buddy,” Jake Owen<\/a> wrote on the post.<\/a> “You are stronger than most.”<\/p>\n Worthington, who first rose to fame while competing on The Voice<\/em><\/a> in 2014, released his most recent album When I Write the Song<\/em> in 2025.<\/p>\n In February, the “It Ain’t the Whiskey” musician was one of the artists selected as a part of the 2026 NextStage class<\/a> alongside Alexandra Kay<\/a>, Carter Faith<\/a>, Emily Ann Roberts<\/a>, Graham Barham<\/a>, Hudson Westbrook<\/a>, Tyler Braden<\/a>, Vincent Mason<\/a> and Willow Avalon<\/a>.<\/p>\n In 2024, he spoke to PEOPLE<\/a> about why it was a “gift” to collaborate with one of his “musical heroes” and fellow Texan Miranda Lambert<\/a> on their joint track “Hello S—ty Day.”<\/p>\n “I know I’ve had ’em. I had definitely had [those] mornings… mornings and evenings that felt exactly how I believe that the song portrays, and I think a lot of folks have,” Worthington said of the track.<\/p>\n He added, “People are going to have s—ty days.
