IC Mendoza<\/a><\/strong> and his family received an apology from Sen. Juan Miguel \u201cMigz\u201d Zubiri after the latter used the name of the former\u2019s late grandmother, Inday Badiday, to describe the supposed \u201ccircus\u201d in the Senate. <\/p>\n Zubiri earlier made mention of the late veteran TV host and entertainment journalist \u2014 whose real name was Lourdes Carvajal \u2014 during a Senate manifestation, speaking against Sen. Imee Marcos\u2019 claims about an alleged constitutional assembly plot.<\/p>\n \u201cInday Badiday na ba tayo dito?\u201d he said, calling Marcos\u2019 allegations as \u201cpropaganda\u201d and \u201cfake news.\u201d<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n IC cried foul over Zubiri\u2019s remark, stressing it was a disrespect to Lourdes. <\/p>\n \u201cShe was more than showbiz chika and intrigues. She helped shape local pop culture and the entertainment journalism landscape of her time, and her work influenced conversations around media and entertainment for generations,\u201d the TV personality said via his Facebook page.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cReducing her name and legacy to describe the \u2018circus\u2019 happening in the Senate is offensive,\u201d he continued. \u201cAng tagal nang patay ng lola ko (My grandmother has been dead for a long time). Please leave her out of your political commentaries and analogies.\u201d<\/p>\n Zubiri then issued an apology on the matter and said it was a \u201cslip of the tongue.\u201d He further underscored his respect for Lourdes, noting her contribution to Philippine media and television.<\/p>\n \u201cI take full responsibility because I should have been more careful with my words,\u201d the senator stated. \u201cMy frustration was about the video shown on the Senate floor, and I never meant to disrespect her memory or reduce her legacy to politics.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cTama si IC Mendoza, dapat hindi na nadamay ang lola niya sa usaping pulitika. Kaya muli, I apologize deeply to the family and I will be more mindful moving forward,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n IC, in turn, acknowledged Zubiri\u2019s apology. <\/p>\n \u201cI also get where you\u2019re coming from and your frustration.
