The Australian spinoff of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!<\/em> has been shelved indefinitely as Channel 10 has announced its cancellation after 12 years. Premiered in 2015, the Aussie version of the UK reality TV series was more recently hosted by comedian Julia Morris and conservationist and TV star Robert Irwin.<\/p>\n The first seasons of the reality TV series were co-hosted by Morris and veterinarian Chris Brown, with Brown replaced by Irwin for the last three series. Now, Morris and Irwin won’t be returning for series 16 as I’m a Celeb<\/a><\/em> has been ‘rested’ by the network.<\/p>\n “We have made the decision to rest I’m A Celebrity\u2026 Get Me Out of Here!<\/em> in 2027 as we focus on offering our audience a range of content on all platforms,” a spokesperson for the network announced last week.<\/p>\n “We look forward to working with Julia Morris and Robert Irwin on other projects.”<\/p>\n The two presenters shared statements in the wake of the cancellation, with Morris calling the show “the best working experience of my lifetime” (via Pedestrian<\/a><\/em>).<\/p>\n “I’m a Celebrity<\/em> and our whole jungle family who make this show have made it the best working experience of my lifetime,” she said in a statement. “I have loved every moment and will be forever grateful to [network president Beverley McGarvey] and the whole team at Network Ten for not only believing in this show but nurturing it for 12 years. And to our jungle family watching from home, we love you.”<\/p>\n Irwin echoed the sentiment, saying: “I want to express what an absolute privilege it has been to work on this show for the past three seasons. I grew up watching this show as so many Aussies do, so to be part of the fantastic team that make this series a reality felt like a dream come true.”<\/p>\n He continued: “We have had the honour of sharing incredible stories and create a platform to shine a light on amazing charities that our celebrities have supported along the way. And to do it all alongside my co-host, and friend, Julia Morris, made it a truly life-changing experience that I will remember for the rest of my life.”<\/p>\n The announcement sent fans of I’m a Celebrity<\/em> in a panic as many misread the headlines, thinking the British version had been axed. <\/p>\n “Holy sh*t, I thought you meant the UK version,” a fan of the UK show wrote on Twitter\/X<\/a>, while someone else wrote<\/a>: “My heart skipped a beat for a second.”<\/p>\n “The way I completely misread this lmao,” was another comment<\/a>.<\/p>\n Prior to the official announcement, Morris seemed to be as surprised as the next fan that the network had pulled the plug on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia<\/em> as she responded to a follower’s comment.<\/p>\n “I just read on another site Celeb<\/em> has been cancelled, please say it isn’t so,” the fan wrote on a Morris’s post<\/a> in a comment published last week, with the comedian replying: “It’s news to me lovely jx.”<\/p>\n Morris became viral for her comedy intros to the show in 2018, where she introduced herself with a different joke on each episode alongside Brown. <\/p>\n In an Instagram montage of the best Morris’s intros, which saw her introduce herself as “eccentric billionaire Julia Morris” and “a full-scale replica of Julia Morris”, a fan recently commented in the wake of the show’s cancellation: “Loved every episode, you are a joy!”<\/p>\n I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
