Jennie Garth says she had to get hypnotized in order to “not pee my pants” while on Dancing With the Stars<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n The 90210<\/em> actress competed on season 5 of the series with pro partner, Derek Hough.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n She made it all the way to the semi-finals, where she placed fourth.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Jennie Garth is sharing the unique tactic that she employed to get over her stage fright while competing on Dancing With the Stars.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n The Beverly Hills, 90210 <\/em>actress, 54, revealed that she underwent hypnosis in order to stop herself from peeing her pants whenever she and pro partner Derek Hough were called to the ballroom to perform.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cI think that that show\u2026 really showed me how strong I was,\u201d Garth explained on a recent episode of the Pod Meets World<\/em><\/a>podcast. \u201cI was honestly,\u00a0no disrespect, but I was so happy<\/em> when I got kicked off because I did not like that kind of stress and the spotlight.\u201d<\/p>\n Garth and Derek Hough competing on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Garth and Hough competed in season 5 of the ABC dancing series in 2007. The pair made it all the way to the semi-finals and ultimately placed fourth in the competition, with Derek\u2019s sister Julianne Hough<\/a> and racing driver H\u00e9lio Castroneves taking home the Mirrorball trophy.\u00a0<\/p>\n Despite her success, Garth admitted that she found competing on Dancing With the Stars<\/em> to be \u201creally hard\u201d for her both physically and emotionally.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cI had to go get hypnotized to, like, not pee my pants when they said, \u2018And dancing the waltz! Jennie Garth and her partner, Derek Hough!\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cGives me PTSD bumps right now just thinking about it.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Garth continued, \u201cI\u2019m not the person that\u2019s like, \u2018Hey, look at me, everybody!\u2019 Like, I don\u2019t love that.\u201d<\/p>\n Although Garth did manage to find a silver lining to the experience, telling hosts Danielle Fishel (who recently competed on DWTS <\/em>herself), Rider Strong, and Will Friedle that she \u201cdid stay in really good shape\u201d while on the show.\u00a0<\/p>\n Get your daily dose of entertainment news, celebrity updates, and what to watch with\u00a0our\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>EW Dispatch newsletter<\/em><\/strong><\/a>.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Earlier in their conversation, Garth expressed her amazement that Dancing With the Stars <\/em>is “still on” to this day, with its 35th season set to premiere this fall. A spinoff hosted by Robert Irwin<\/a>, titledDancing With the Stars: the Next Pro<\/em><\/a>, is also cha-cha-ing onto television screens this July.<\/p>\n \u201cI remember season 1 when it came on they asked me to do it on season 1, and I was like, \u2018ooh, no, that\u2019s not\u2026 nobody knows how this is gonna go over,\u201d Garth recalled. She added, \u201cI mean, it was so, I love watching it but that\u2019s a long time that show\u2019s been on!\u201d<\/p>\n She continued, \u201cBut I guess it\u2019s the glitz, it\u2019s the sequins, it\u2019s the personal journey, the challenge that the contestants go through, and having done it, it is hard.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Last year, Garth made headlines when she revealed that she\u2019s completely forgotten how to dance in the decades since her season aired<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n “I don’t [know how to] any more,” Garth told\u00a0Chelsea Handler<\/a>\u00a0at the time. “Once you do it, if you don’t do it more, you lose it, so I’ve lost it.”<\/p>\n
