Christian Spencer\u00a0\u201923\u00a0\u201926MS<\/strong>\u00a0is\u00a0pursuing\u00a0his dream career,\u00a0blending the art of world-class hospitality with the innovation of themed entertainment\u00a0here\u00a0in Central Florida, the theme park capital of the world.<\/p>\n Last year,\u00a0Spencer\u00a0was promoted to\u00a0his\u00a0first leadership role as a performance coordinator with the Entertainment Events team at Universal Orlando Resort\u00a0\u2014 guiding performers,\u00a0maintaining\u00a0show quality,\u00a0and collaborating with creative and technical teams\u00a0to deliver\u00a0live events and\u00a0immersive\u00a0guest experiences. He credits UCF with helping him achieve a decades-long goal.<\/p>\n That\u00a0dream\u00a0started during\u00a0his\u00a0childhood in Virginia, when\u00a0his\u00a0parents went through a difficult divorce, and he\u00a0found\u00a0his\u00a0happy place at Busch Gardens Williamsburg.\u00a0He went on to become a theater student, and in high school he took a job\u00a0at the park\u00a0as a performer.<\/p>\n That\u2019s\u00a0when he\u00a0knew\u00a0he\u00a0could turn his passion into a career.<\/p>\n \u201cAs a kid,\u00a0I could immerse myself in a show and have a reprieve from\u00a0difficult times\u00a0at home.\u00a0I knew that someday I wanted to create that happiness for others,\u201d\u00a0Spencer\u00a0says. \u201cOnce I\u00a0had the opportunity\u00a0to work there, I was fascinated\u00a0by what it took\u00a0behind the scenes\u00a0to bring a theme park experience to life.\u00a0I\u00a0wanted a career filled with days like those.\u201d<\/p>\n To pursue\u00a0this path,\u00a0he\u00a0set\u00a0his\u00a0sights\u00a0on attending\u00a0UCF\u2019s\u00a0Rosen College of Hospitality Management<\/a>, where he\u00a0went on to\u00a0earn\u00a0his bachelor\u2019s degree in entertainment management<\/a>\u00a0in 2023.\u00a0Just\u00a0this week,\u00a0UCF\u00a0welcomed\u00a0Universal Destinations and Experiences<\/a> as its first entertainment-sector Pegasus Partner and announced the creation of The Universal School of Experience Leadership and Innovation<\/a>\u00a0at Rosen College.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I found Rosen College, I knew it was the place for me,\u201d he says.\u00a0\u201cOn the first day of class, my professor talked about the joys of a career in the theme park industry. It was a dream\u00a0I\u2019d\u00a0had for so long that it moved me to tears.\u201d<\/p>\n He sent his mom a text that said,\u00a0\u201cThank you for everything\u00a0you\u2019ve\u00a0done for me.\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0exactly where I need to be.\u201d<\/p>\n However,\u00a0as\u00a0an out-of-state\u00a0student,\u00a0tuition\u00a0was a challenge\u00a0for Spencer.\u00a0His\u00a0mom did all she could\u00a0to help\u00a0him, but\u00a0he\u00a0has worked\u00a0hard to pay for\u00a0his\u00a0education.\u00a0He became\u00a0a\u00a0resident\u00a0assistant\u00a0on campus\u00a0and also\u00a0received a Rosen\u00a0College\u00a0scholarship.\u00a0Throughout school,\u00a0he has\u00a0worked as a performer in all three\u00a0major\u00a0Central Florida\u00a0theme parks\u00a0simultaneously.<\/p>\n He also became a\u00a0leader\u00a0on campus and in the industry, serving\u00a0as\u00a0vice\u00a0president\u00a0of UCF\u2019s Future Theme Park Leaders Association\u00a0while he was a Rosen College student.<\/p>\n He credits\u00a0his\u00a0professors\u00a0with\u00a0believing in him and supporting him throughout his journey,\u00a0helping him to work toward\u00a0his goal\u00a0of\u00a0becoming\u00a0a show director\u00a0in one of the local world-class theme parks.<\/p>\n The same professor who inspired him on day one later encouraged him to pursue a master\u2019s degree in\u00a0themed experience<\/a>, part of\u00a0UCF\u2019s\u00a0College of Arts and Humanities<\/a>.\u00a0This program\u00a0is designed\u00a0for\u00a0the\u00a0next generation of creators, artists and leaders\u00a0who\u00a0are redefining what it means to be entertained, and Spencer just\u00a0graduated in early May.<\/p>\n \u201cMy UCF journey has been the experience of a lifetime,\u201d he says.\u00a0\u201cAnd the best part is that I\u2019ll spend my career creating experiences that are just as life-changing for others.\u201d<\/p>\n Last year, Spencer received a\u00a0Universal Orlando\u00a0Impact Award\u00a0recognizing his contributions\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0grand opening celebration of Epic Universe, the resort\u2019s newest theme park.<\/p>\n He\u00a0shared his\u00a0story on stage\u00a0at\u00a0UCF\u2019s Go For Launch campaign liftoff<\/a>,\u00a0inspiring the UCF community\u00a0and\u00a0demonstrating\u00a0the power of a Knight education to\u00a0reshape what it means to be entertained and what the future of experiences holds for people everywhere.<\/p>\n The UCF-Universal\u00a0Pegasus Partnership\u00a0is a\u00a0significant early\u00a0milestone\u00a0of\u00a0Go For Launch<\/a>\u00a0\u2014\u00a0a\u00a0$3.5 billion\u00a0campaign to expand\u00a0opportunity, advance\u00a0discovery\u00a0and drive impact across the university.<\/p>\n![\"Christian](\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/20\/files\/2026\/05\/UCF_Christian-Spencer_UDX-Alum_2.jpg\"\/)
