Latifah spoke with the outlet following her hosting duties at the 2026 American Music Awards<\/strong>. Her last album,\u00a0<\/span>Persona<\/span>, dropped in 2009.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, I got all this music at home, and I forget y\u2019all haven\u2019t heard it,\u201d she said. \u201cI need to let somebody else hear it other than my friends.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

She declared that it is \u201ctime\u201d for new music and warned fans to \u201cget ready for the many genres that it will come out in.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Latifah will join\u00a0<\/span>The Voice<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0as a coach for season 30 this fall. She will also receive the Early Influence Award at the\u00a0<\/span>Rock & Roll Hall of Fame<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0induction ceremony in November.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s really odd to be inducted with people who are such influences and such heroes in my mind,\u201d she said of sharing the class with\u00a0<\/span>MC Lyte<\/span><\/strong>,\u00a0<\/span>Luther Vandross<\/span><\/strong>,\u00a0<\/span>Celia Cruz<\/span><\/strong>,\u00a0<\/span>Sade<\/span><\/strong>, and\u00a0<\/span>Billy Idol<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite the long break between albums, Latifah has remained active in music. She performed a surprise set at Coachella 2025 with\u00a0<\/span>Megan Thee Stallion<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0and featured on songs by\u00a0<\/span>MC Lyte<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>Dolly Parton<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n
