(Image: Nine) <\/p>\n<p>While flying to the Bahamas to film a show may have initially sounded like a treat, six high-profile Australians \u2013 Scott Cam, Ariarne Titmus, Lynne McGranger, Matt Nable, Sam Thaiday and Tammy Hebrow \u2013 will face their fears in a series of escalating challenges designed to test their resilience and trust.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re joined by Australian shark attack survivor and former Navy clearance diver Paul de Gelder, as he leads them through the series of challenges alongside shark researcher and photographer Annie Guttridge.<\/p>\n<p> Paul lost his right hand and leg in a Sydney Harbour bull shark attack and is now a passionate shark conversation advocate, with his work driven by replacing myth with understanding when it comes to the marine species.<\/p>\n<p> The celebrities will be guided through a series of challenges from open-water dives with reef sharks, to coming face to face with hammerheads, bull sharks and tiger sharks. <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-scott-cam-s-surprising-shark-salary\">Scott Cam\u2019s surprising Shark! salary<\/h3>\n<p><center><br \/>\n<\/center><\/p>\n<p>While we know and love Scott Cam for his work on The Block, the popular TV host will be well out of his comfort zone in his new Channel Nine foray, and sources tell Woman\u2019s Day his involvement with Shark! was never about a separate mega payday. <\/p>\n<p>It was widely reported that <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nowtolove.com.au\/entertainment\/the-block\/the-block-judges-revolt-over-pay\/\">Scott signed a $2.4 million deal <\/a>with Nine Entertainment for 2026, and that includes making himself available for special projects and network opportunities outside of The Block.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cScotty is already on a major network contract with Nine,\u201d an insider told Woman\u2019s Day. \u201cPeople forget his deal isn\u2019t just for The Block. He makes himself available for network opportunities and special projects.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to sources, Nine executive Adrian Swift<strong> <\/strong>personally approached Scott several times about joining the Bahamas-based series before the veteran television star finally agreed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt first he wasn\u2019t sure,\u201d the insider claims. \u201cIt\u2019s incredibly rare for a host of a <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nowtolove.com.au\/entertainment\/the-block\/\">massive franchise like The Block <\/a>to suddenly become the contestant. But there\u2019s a huge level of trust between Scott and Nine.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Sources close to production say the experience deeply affected The Block host, with the longtime presenter walking away with a very different perspective on reality television contestants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing told where to go, what to do, filming long exhausting hours. (Image: Nine) <\/p>\n<p>While Scott\u2019s salary was reportedly absorbed into his existing Nine deal, insiders say the rest of the celebrity cast negotiated separate appearance fees but the figures were more modest than many viewers might expect.<\/p>\n<p>Industry insiders estimate most cast members received somewhere between $50,000 and $100,000 depending on their profile and experience, with all parties reportedly feeling the offers were fair. \u201cObviously a Gold Logie winner gets paid differently. And gold medallist<strong> <\/strong>also gets paid differently. So it was not a set salary,\u201d our insider told us. <\/p>\n<p>According to those close to the production, \u201cthe real selling point wasn\u2019t the cheque; it was the once-in-a-lifetime experience.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tammy Hembrow, who has historically resisted reality television offers, reportedly surprised executives by agreeing to the series almost immediately.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTammy has said \u2018no\u2019 to reality TV for years,\u201d the insider says. \u201cShe didn\u2019t need the money. She genuinely loves the ocean and saw this as a chance to push herself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Olympic superstar <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nowtolove.com.au\/tag\/ariarne-titmus\/\">Ariarne Titmus<\/a> also embraced the challenge, while former rugby league star Sam Thaiday approached the series differently to his time on I\u2019m a Celebrity\u2026Get Me Out of Here!.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSam\u2019s family were genuinely nervous about the shark aspect,\u201d reveals the source. \u201cBut unlike \u2018the jungle\u2019, everyone knew exactly what he was walking into.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-home-and-away-star-lynne-mcgranger-s-important-message-to-women-ahead-of-shark-premiere\">Home and Away star Lynne McGranger\u2019s important message to women ahead of Shark! premiere<\/h3>\n<p><center><br \/>\n<\/center><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile beloved<strong> <\/strong>Lynne McGranger reportedly viewed the show as a personal mission to inspire women her own age.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLynne wanted women to see they don\u2019t have to put themselves in a box because of their age,\u201d says the insider. \u201cThis was never something she imagined doing, but she wanted to prove to herself and to others, that life doesn\u2019t stop.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lynne recently spoke to <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nowtolove.com.au\/lifestyle\/lynne-mcgranger-new-challenge-shark-show\/\">TV Week about the show<\/a>, saying she felt empowered after filming Shark!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was so far out of my comfort zone, but I wanted to show women of a certain age that you can do stuff,\u201d she said. \u201cYou\u2019re not confined to the rocking chair.
