Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> hit back on Sunday after Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr<\/a>. slammed him on social media.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Kennedy shared a post from X satirist Peter Girnus, who often assigns himself different grandiose \u2015 and fictional \u2015 job titles, such as \u201csenior director for Iran on the National Security Council,\u201d \u201cforensic accountant at the Trump Organization\u201d and \u201cthe president of the United States.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In a viral thread shared by Kennedy, Girnus claimed he was senior vice president of late-night strategy at CBS, and claimed he had \u201ckilled\u201d Colbert\u2019s previous character and \u201cturned a jester into a priest.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But Kennedy praised the post as a \u201csuperb dissection of the shocking collapse of liberal comedy.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cThis is the best explanation of how we\u2019ve reached the nader where Late Night host Jimmy Kimmel can say \u2018It\u2019s not my job to be funny,\u2019\u201d Kennedy wrote on X<\/a>, complete with typo. \u201cAs this author shows, he was hired as a comedian but he made himself a priest.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Kimmel shared Kennedy\u2019s post on Instagram and added a correction in pink letters.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s \u2018nadir\u2019 dummy. Now get back to spreading polio,\u201d Kimmel wrote: <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Kimmel never said the words Kennedy attributed to him. The phrase appears to originate from an article on the satirical Babylon Bee<\/a> website. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In reality, former first lady Michelle Obama<\/a> asked Kimmel during a podcast interview how it felt to have gone from doing comedy to \u201cprobably unintentionally\u201d becoming a truth-teller when he began tackling more serious topics on his show.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cI love telling jokes, I love being funny, I love when the audience laughs. There\u2019s nothing that\u2019s more exciting to me than that,\u201d Kimmel said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He also noted that it would be embarrassing, even shameful, if he didn\u2019t talk about what\u2019s happening right now.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always said, since the very beginning \u2015 even when I was on the radio \u2015 is to talk about what is going on in people\u2019s lives,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

But Kimmel said he bristled at people who claimed it wasn\u2019t his job to delve into certain subjects.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t tell me what my job is,\u201d he said. \u201cI don\u2019t tell you what your job is. My job is whatever I decide my job is, or whatever my employer allows me to do. That\u2019s what my job is.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
