Emily in Paris<\/em><\/a> star Pierre Deny<\/strong> has died at age 69 after battling ALS.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with deep emotion that we announce the passing of Pierre Deny, which occurred this Monday following a sudden and severe case of ALS,\u201d the actor\u2019s daughters said in a statement to the Daily Mail<\/em> on Wednesday, May 27.<\/p>\n

The actor began his career in the \u201980s with theatre productions before making the move to TV and film. He was known for his role on the French series Julie Lescaut<\/em>, where he played Captain Philippe Kremen. More recently, Deny appeared as Louis de L\u00e9on, CEO of the fictional fashion company JVMA, on seasons 3 and 4 of Emily in Paris<\/em>.<\/a><\/p>\n

After news broke about Deny\u2019s death<\/a>, celebrities took to social media to mourn.<\/p>\n

The disease causes the individual to gradually lose control of their muscles, beginning gradually with muscle stiffness or [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Singer Sylvie Vartan<\/strong> wrote via Instagram, \u201cIt is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Pierre Deny. I shared many wonderful moments with him on stage in Isabelle Mergault\u2019s play.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cHe was a generous actor and a sensitive and funny man. In these painful moments, my thoughts are with his family and loved ones.\u201d<\/p>\n

Raphael Benoliel<\/strong>, meanwhile, described Deny as a \u201cgreat artist\u201d and a \u201cmagnificent person,\u201d adding via X, \u201cI shared with him a passion for soccer that he loved above all else \u2026 he was a true enthusiast, and we were still playing together just a year ago like a couple of kids.\u201d<\/p>\n

Benoliel addressed Deny\u2019s health battle as well. \u201cHe had the joy of the game, the joy of being together, the love of effort, of life,\u201d he continued. \u201cThat goddamn Charcot\u2019s disease took him away far too soon \u2026 it\u2019s so unfair.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grey\u2019s Anatomy alum Eric Dane announced in April 2025 that he had been diagnosed with the nervous system disease. \u201cI have been diagnosed with ALS,\u201d the actor shared in a statement. \u201cI am grateful to have my loving family by my side [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Celebrities have opened up about their experiences with ALS through the years, including Eric Dane<\/strong>, who died in February at age 53<\/a> after battling the disease.<\/p>\n
