Paul, how are you today?<\/p>\n Paul Oakenfold:<\/strong>\u00a0I\u2019m good, thank you. And you?<\/p>\n Oscar:<\/strong>\u00a0Very good. I\u2019m glad to be here with you. What does it mean to be part of the 30th anniversary of EDC Las Vegas?<\/p>\n Paul Oakenfold:<\/strong>\u00a0Wonderful. I mean, I\u2019m a big fan of what Pasquale\u2019s done. I\u2019ve been playing for EDC for many years, and to celebrate their 30-year anniversary is a wonderful moment for all of us. And I think, as you can see, we\u2019ve got some of the original pioneers from electronic music mixed up with the next generation from around the world.<\/p>\n Oscar:<\/strong>\u00a0How many editions have you played?<\/p>\n Paul Oakenfold:<\/strong>\u00a0A lot. I can\u2019t remember!\u00a0laughs<\/em><\/p>\n Oscar:<\/strong>\u00a0What can fans expect today from your show at Quantum Valley?<\/p>\n Paul Oakenfold:<\/strong>\u00a0Because it\u2019s the 30-year anniversary, I\u2019m going to play brand new music, but I\u2019m going to pepper it with classics and some of my music in between. So, because it\u2019s the 30-year anniversary, I do want to touch on some of the old tunes. And the set\u2019s live on YouTube, it\u2019s on the EDC site, so it should be good.<\/p>\n Oscar:<\/strong>\u00a0Cool. Can you tell us about your new single coming out in June, \u201cMasquerade\u201d?<\/p>\n Paul Oakenfold:<\/strong>\u00a0Yeah, \u201cMasquerade\u201d I\u2019m going to showcase tonight. It\u2019s going to be the dance mix, the up-tempo mix. And what I mean by that is I\u2019ve done two different mixes: one is down-tempo that\u2019s more radio-friendly, let\u2019s call it that. And tonight is the world premiere of the up-tempo club mix of \u201cMasquerade.\u201d<\/p>\n Oscar:<\/strong>\u00a0Nice.<\/p>\n Paul Oakenfold:<\/strong>\u00a0Oscar, you\u2019re going to love it!<\/p>\n Oscar:<\/strong>\u00a0You also have a new mix album coming out at the end of July. What can listeners expect from that project?<\/p>\n Paul Oakenfold:<\/strong>\u00a0Transmission 2<\/em>\u00a0is collaborations with a bunch of colleagues, from Carl Cox<\/strong>, Armin van Buuren<\/strong>, Markus Schulz<\/strong>, Ferry<\/strong> Corsten<\/strong>, and a few others. Collaborations taking classic tunes from back in the day, reinterpreting them, and bringing fresh ideas around them.<\/p>\n Oscar:<\/strong>\u00a0Great. Tell us about your upcoming U.S. and North American tour with The Crystal Method.<\/p>\n Paul Oakenfold:<\/strong>\u00a0Yeah, I\u2019m really looking forward to that. The Crystal Method, Liquid Todd \u2014 two pioneers of the industry in America coming together with myself to tour the World Cup. As I\u2019m a big football fan, we\u2019re going to go to a lot of the fan zones, a lot of the games, a lot of parties, and be DJing, playing, performing, and hanging out. So, it\u2019s the World Cup tour. Really looking forward to that.<\/p>\n Oscar:<\/strong>\u00a0That sounds very fun.<\/p>\n Paul Oakenfold:<\/strong>\u00a0Yeah.<\/p>\n Oscar:<\/strong>\u00a0As one of the original architects of electronic dance music, what is your perspective on the current state and future of the EDM industry?<\/p>\n Paul Oakenfold:<\/strong>\u00a0I think it\u2019s grown. It\u2019s massive. It\u2019s worldwide. It\u2019s getting bigger and bigger. You\u2019re looking at China, India, emerging markets. Obviously, Europe\u2019s still there. Germany is really big at the moment. So, electronic music is here to stay in a big way.<\/p>\n Oscar:<\/strong>\u00a0Lastly, but not least important, you have a lot of fans at EDMTunes. Do you have a message for them?<\/p>\n Paul Oakenfold:<\/strong>\u00a0Yeah, thank you for your support.
