But I am incredibly proud of the family we built \u2014 and even more proud of the family we chose to remain. Happy birthday [Angelo].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pag\u00e1n playfully responded to his ex by quoting <strong>Al Pacino<\/strong> in <em>The Godfather Part III<\/em>, writing, \u201cJust when I thought I was out, they pull me back in ! You best believe I\u2019m Michael Coleone in this movie!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The former couple were married for 21 years before divorcing in 2024. (Remini and Pag\u00e1n share a daughter, <strong>Sofia Bella Pag\u00e1n<\/strong>, 21, and he has three older sons \u2014 <strong>Angelo Jr.<\/strong>, <strong>Alex<\/strong> and <strong>Nico<\/strong> \u2014 from a previous relationship. After 28 years together and 21 years of marriage, we have decided to file for divorce,\u201d she wrote via Instagram at the time. \u201cThis decision came after a lot of thought and care, and as hard as divorce is, we are approaching this with a positive outlook because we know it\u2019s what\u2019s best for us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Remini acknowledged that the end of her marriage was \u201csad,\u201d adding that she and Pag\u00e1n had some \u201cfiguring out to do as we continue to move forward into our new normal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut here\u2019s the thing: we\u2019ve been best friends for so many years,\u201d she insisted. \u201cWe are still celebrating holidays together, watching our favorite tv shows together, and gathering as a family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Us Weekly<\/em> reported in October 2024 that Remini and Pag\u00e1n had finalized their divorce. (The terms of their divorce were kept private since they reached a settlement through mediation outside the court.)<\/p>\n<p>Remini <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrity-news\/news\/leah-remini-on-leaving-scientology-divorce-and-starting-over\/\">exclusively opened up to <em>Us<\/em><\/a> in June 2025 about how she and Pag\u00e1n came to the decision to separate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou become friends, but there\u2019s more to marriage than that. I saw that Angelo wanted something different,\u201d she told <em>Us<\/em>. \u201cWhen you\u2019re giving what you give in a relationship, but it\u2019s not what the person wants, it\u2019s like, \u2018So you don\u2019t appreciate what I\u2019m doing? Well, I don\u2019t appreciate what you\u2019re doing because that\u2019s not what I want.\u2019 When I met him, I was in Scientology as a different person. Living in the same household, you\u2019re acting out your roles, and if we\u2019re not changing those roles as our needs change, you\u2019re just growing apart.
