HALIFAX \u2014 An ambitious plan to build a stadium and entertainment hub near Halifax appears to be on shaky ground.<\/p>\n
A local business leader involved in initial discussions about the venture says talks last year with U.S.-based Ridgehaven Holdings fell apart when it became clear the bid lacked key elements.<\/p>\n
Jason Brunt, president of Halifax-based Clayton Developments, says the proposal didn\u2019t have a business plan, feasibility study, financial analysis or proof of capital.<\/p>\n
Representatives with the Delaware-based sports and entertainment company did not respond to requests for comment.<\/p>\n
Brunt says the parcel of land that Ridgehaven was interested in has since been sold to another buyer.<\/p>\n
Reports suggested the American firm had floated plans for a $1.5-billion project near Halifax Stanfield International Airport that called for construction of a 25,000-seat multi-use stadium, entertainment district and 8,000 homes.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe made a push to get this,\u201d Brunt said in a brief statement, adding that a business case never materialized. \u201cWe decided to move forward\u2026with selling the land to other qualified bidders.\u201d\u2028<\/p>\n
