The Scripps National Spelling Bee started with 247 spellers, and\u00a0now just nine students will take the stage for the finals Thursday night. \u00a0<br \/>\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>The spellers survived nine rounds of spelling and vocabulary to make it to the finals. And through every round, they support and encourage each other with plenty of high fives to try to calm their nerves.\u00a0 \u00a0<br \/>\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>Logan Bailey is making his first appearance on the National Spelling Bee stage. When he was spelling his final word in the semifinals, he said, \u201cI was more excited than nervous, you could say. Dharavane finished in third place at last year\u2019s Bee and he is thrilled he made it back to the finals. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019ve prepared a lot for this spelling and qualifying for the finals. But it\u2019s not over yet. I\u2019m still not done. There\u2019s one more stage left and I intend on completing that fully,\u201d he said. \u00a0<br \/>\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>But all of these spellers have been preparing for this moment for months.\u00a0 \u00a0<br \/>\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>Zwe Spacetime is the younger brother of 2021 Bee winner Zaila Avant-garde. But like I didn\u2019t expect for me to actually make it to the finals,\u201d said Avishka Dudala, a 13-year-old finalist from Prosper, Texas. \u00a0<br \/>\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>The speller who wins Thursday night will get more than just a trophy and bragging rights.
