Leah Remini<\/a> is showing that divorce doesn\u2019t have to mean the end of a relationship as she reunited with her ex-husband, Angelo Pag\u00e1n<\/a>, on Tuesday (May 26) to celebrate his 58th birthday.<\/p>\n The King of Queens<\/em><\/a> alum took to Instagram<\/a> to share a family snap at a restaurant, with her standing next to her ex with her hand on his shoulder. \u201cIn a world where so much feels curated and performative, I have come to appreciate the rare beauty of families that change shape, but never lose the love that is real,\u201d Remini wrote in the caption.<\/p>\n She continued, \u201cSome may not understand it. But I am incredibly proud of the family we built \u2014 and even more proud of the family we chose to remain. Happy birthday [Angelo].\u201d<\/p>\n Pag\u00e1n responded in the comments with a reference to Al Pacino<\/a> in The Godfather Part III<\/em><\/a>, writing, \u201cJust when I thought I was out, they pull me back in ! You best believe I\u2019m Michael Coleone in this movie!\u201d<\/p>\n Remini and Pag\u00e1n split up after 21 years of marriage<\/a> in August 2024 and finalized their divorce two months later. The former couple share a daughter, Sofia Bella Pag\u00e1n (21), and Pag\u00e1n has three older sons (Angelo Jr., Alex, and Nico) from a previous relationship.<\/p>\n When they first met, Remini was a member of the Church of Scientology. She and her family left the Church in 2013, and in the years since, she\u2019s spoken out against Scientology<\/a> in a number of documentaries.<\/p>\n In a statement announcing their divorce in August 2024, Remini noted that it was a mutual decision and that she and Pag\u00e1n remain best friends.<\/p>\n \u201cWell, here we are. After 28 years together and 21 years of marriage, we have decided to file for divorce,\u201d she wrote on Instagram at the time. \u201cThis decision came after a lot of thought and care, and as hard as divorce is, we are approaching this with a positive outlook because we know it\u2019s what\u2019s best for us.\u201d<\/p>\n She added, \u201cBut here\u2019s the thing: we\u2019ve been best friends for so many years.
