\n\tEXCLUSIVE:<\/strong> Starboard Entertainment<\/a> has acquired Wardcliffe<\/a><\/em>, a pandemic thriller from writer-director David Ferino<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tStarboard picked the film up at this year\u2019s Cannes Market.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tInspired by real events, Wardcliffe<\/em> stars Joel McKinnon Miller (Brooklyn Nine-Nine<\/em>) alongside Shane Coffey (Pretty Little Liars<\/em>) and unfolds almost entirely within the confines of a family home during the early days of the COVID pandemic.<\/p>\n \n\tThe film\u2019s synopsis reads: \u201cOver the course of a single day, decades of tension escalate to a boiling point as a father and son quarantine together during the 2020 pandemic lockdown.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tThe film marks the feature directorial debut of Ferino, who also served as writer and editor on the project. Ferino recently signed on with Starboard to direct Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence<\/em>, the newest installment in the long-running cult franchise. Starring in that film are David Koechner, John Astin, Dan Bakkedahl, Catherine Corcoran, Paul Bates, Vernee Watson, and Eric Roberts.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cWhen I first heard of this news event in 2020, I knew it had the right criteria for a first feature,\u201d Ferino said of Wardcliffe<\/em>. \u201cThe film could be made on a small production scale, but with big emotional weight. It\u2019s a tragedy that encapsulates the heightened anxiety we collectively shared throughout the pandemic.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tWardcliffe was produced and independently financed by Roger M. Mayer through Brooklyn Reptyle Productions. Mayer\u2019s producing credits include Antibirth<\/em>, starring Natasha Lyonne and Chlo\u00eb Sevigny, and the short LaZercism<\/em>, directed by Shaka King and starring LaKeith Stanfield and Da\u2019Vine Joy Randolph.\u00a0Mayer is also producing the aforementioned Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence<\/em>. <\/p>\n \n\tExecutive producers on Wardcliffe<\/em> include Jenifer Ellis and Kevin Ragsdale.
