As we come to the final weekend of May and inexplicably move into the midpoint of 2026 we\u2019re bringing you ten more brilliant new releases via our Discovery playlist on Spotify and Apple Music; including two singles we premiered exclusively earlier in the week. Meanwhile a band who have been described as \u201cthe most exciting live band in London right now\u201d \u2013 the wonderfully named Man\/Woman\/Chainsaw <\/b>\u2013 <\/b>take home Track of the Week, with their new single, the equally wonderfully named, \u201cGoddamn, Lizard Man!\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cGoddamnm Lizard Man!\u201d is the second track to be released from the London band\u2019s much anticipated debut album Cannonball<\/i>, which is set for release on August 7th via Fiction Records. It\u2019s something of a musical expose on the slimy, manipulative, yet magnetic people we encounter as we go through life. The ones we realise are a piece of shit, but still find ourselves captivated by. As vocalist Billy Ward opines, \u201cWe\u2019ve all met a few lizards in our time!\u201d Delivered with an almost Nick Cave-esque drawl, \u201cGoddamn, Lizard Man!\u201d is a lot of fun; it\u2019s theatrical, grimy, complete with a memorable refrain, and captivating swagger.<\/p>\n
This week saw FVNERAL<\/b> announce their new EP, chosen family<\/i> \u2013 out June 26th. Coming alongside that announcement was the news that the group have teamed up with Melbourne\u2019s Bukowski<\/b> to release a new single: \u201clandline\u201d. The EP and the single, are unfortunately, all too pertinent and timely right now, with both exploring what it means to move through the world as a trans and queer person. According to songwriter\/producer Tay Blunt<\/b> the single \u2018chronicles the inner turmoil that I experienced in wrestling with the idea of coming out as a trans non-binary person and what the consequences of doing so might be\u2019<\/i>. Any lyrical heaviness is offset by the bright, optimism of the instrumentation; which leans into the emo conventions of the song\u2019s guest stars, and provides an empowering and hopeful message to the listener.<\/p>\n
After nearly three years of silence, Swedish singer-songwriter The Tallest Man on Earth<\/strong> is back with \u201cColors.\u201d Kristian Matsson recorded the track in his home studio, weaving together violin, guitar, and his unmistakable voice into something that feels alive and warm \u2014 a longing for summer\u2019s return, wrapped in understated beauty. The instrumentation is nothing short of stunning.<\/p>\n It\u2019s no secret that we\u2019re a fan of a hook-driven, jangly, reverb-soaked guitar here at the AU; and \u201cThe Right Line\u201d from Brooklyn\u2019s Van Chamberlain<\/b> delivered this week. If you enjoyed Real Estate<\/b>, Beach Fossils<\/b> and Surfer Blood<\/b> then this one\u2019s for you. Lush, groove-laden and delivered seemingly effortlessly, \u201cThe Right Line\u201d is here to help you answer life\u2019s trials with a smile on your face.<\/p>\n Brisbane singer-songwriter Lottie McLeod<\/strong> announces her debut EP,\u00a0 The Boat House, <\/em>out 25th September, with lead single \u201cSunburnt\u201d \u2014 a sharp, sun-dazed alt-pop track about wanting someone you know isn\u2019t good for you. Born from a beach day and the abrupt end of a brief romance, the song balances playful wit with genuinely raw lyricism. McLeod herself called one standout line \u201cdisgusting, but that\u2019s the point\u201d \u2014 and she\u2019s not wrong.<\/p>\n We\u2019ve also added \u201cTurnkey Man\u201d from Sydney-raised, now Nashville-based Imogen Clark<\/strong> \u2014 a wry reflection on the challenge of finding the right man, or at least one who doesn\u2019t require major renovations.<\/p>\n Also added to the playlist this week is \u201cLOUD BOY\u201d, the new standalone single from Portland-based pop duo foamboy<\/b>. Inspired by an overbearing super drunk conversation dominating Lord of the Rings super fan, \u201cLOUD BOY\u201d is a vibe. It\u2019s soulful, kinda dreamy, and with subtly dance-y in a kind of disco adjacent fashion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Keeping things dance-y we also have \u201cShivers\u201d, the latest single from Melbourne\u2019s Kerbside Collection<\/b>. The single is the first to be released from their forthcoming fifth studio album \u2013 Cue Blue. <\/i>The track sees the ensemble return to their roots, stripping things back to a classic sound: guitar, bass, drums and brass. It\u2019s just a joy to listen to from start to finish \u2013 soulful, groove-laden and just delivered with impeccable musicianship.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Finally, we\u2019ve added premieres from Trabants<\/strong> (\u201cFuzz 4 Daze\u201d) and David Serby<\/strong> (\u201cBorder Town Romance\u201d).<\/p>\n Catch all the new music updated every Friday on Apple Music:<\/p>\n
