I\u2019ve been waiting a couple of weeks for new Jennifer Lawrence photos and now we have some so I can talk about this anniversary. <\/p>\n
Fifteen years ago, in March 2011, it was confirmed that Jennifer Lawrence had been cast as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games movie adaptation(s). Two months later, in May 2011, she covered Entertainment Weekly in costume as Katniss \u2013 it was an exclusive first look<\/a> at JLaw in the role that would make her one of the biggest movie stars of her generation, shortly after her first Oscar nomination for her performance in Winter\u2019s Bone. And two years before she would actually win the Best Actress Oscar for her performance in Silver Linings Playbook.<\/p>\n Fifteen years. I know every day I\u2019m always like\u2026 howwww\u2026 WTF time\u2026 and now here we are again. I just namechecked Twilight in my earlier post about Off-Campus<\/a> because they\u2019re shooting in Vancouver and it\u2019s been even longer since Twilight but 15 years since JLaw became the definitive Katniss is crazy.<\/p>\n Jennifer has been pretty low-profile since the Golden Globes in January. I was wondering if we\u2019d see her at the Met Gala, that didn\u2019t happen. They\u2019re still technically in production on Martin Scorsese\u2019s What Happens at Night, co-starring Leonardo DiCaprio. What\u2019s often not mentioned much in connection with this project is that Paul Thomas Anderson did a rewrite on the screenplay. So, obviously, with Marty and the cast and the writer, What Happens at Night will arrive with Expectations. It won\u2019t, however, arrive until next year, and probably the latter half. And right now, her other projects are still in development, so once she\u2019s done with it, she will likely have (another) good stretch of downtime \u2013 which is what we\u2019ve seen from her since she got married. She worked non-stop for a whole decade, became a huge star, and then became more selective, less visible, more intentional.<\/p>\n What else happened today\u2026<\/p>\n Cynthia Erivo is done talking about Wicked<\/a>. (Go Fug Yourself)<\/p>\n A few of my friends are really into journaling \u2013 writing down their thoughts every night, nothing too elaborate, just a collection of ideas and random notes. I\u2019ve always been too lazy because I write all day on this site and at The Squawk too. But David Sedaris is making me reconsider; a journal just about haircuts and hairstyles sounds fun<\/a>. Apparently he writes about his haircuts. I say this from the hair and makeup chair, as our hairstylist Caitlin has spent the last two hours working on an elaborate design, maybe I should start doing this. (Celebitchy)<\/p>\n
