Scooter Braun<\/strong><\/a> says he\u2019s still confused about his headline-making feud with Taylor Swift<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201c[I] went from being like, loved and appreciated for over a decade to literally a villain the next night. I don\u2019t want to go into that, but I will say something that will really sum it up that I don\u2019t know if I\u2019ve ever really said,\u201d Braun, 44, said on the Thursday, May 28, episode of Suzy Weiss<\/strong>\u2019 \u201cSecond Thought\u201d<\/a> podcast. \u201cI don\u2019t know Taylor Swift. I think I\u2019ve met her in my life three times.\u201d<\/p>\n

Braun continued, \u201cI have never had a substantial conversation with her in my life. I one time got invited to a private party by her. She told me she had the utmost respect for me. I told her I had the most respect for her. You don\u2019t spend $300 million buying a label that she\u2019s on unless you\u2019re excited at the opportunity to work with her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Swift, 36, and Braun were publicly at odds<\/a> in 2019 when the music manager\u2019s company bought Big Machine Label Group<\/a>, to which the pop star was signed at the start of her career. With the purchase, Braun gained control of the master recordings for Swift\u2019s first six albums. Swift publicly slammed the deal, claiming that she was not given the chance to buy her masters herself. She also accused Braun and his then-clients of bullying her. Braun\u2019s then-client Justin Bieber<\/strong> added fuel to the fire between the talent manager and Swift. Amid the drama, Bieber, who also has a long history of ups and downs with the \u201cAnti-Hero\u201d singer, claimed Braun had her back when she \u201cgraciously let\u201d Bieber open for her.<\/p>\n

Braun, 43, spoke out about the Max and Discover+ docuseries Taylor Swift vs. Scooter Braun: Bad Blood at the Bloomberg Screentime event in Los Angeles on Thursday, October 10, revealing that he hadn\u2019t initially planned on watching the two-part series about [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While appearing on \u201cSecond Thought,\u201d Braun claimed that he had \u201cno contact\u201d with Swift prior to the Big Machine deal.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I spoke to her, really, once for like more than two minutes. But it was a very nice conversation. And beyond that, nothing ever,\u201d he alleged. \u201cAnd then the three years prior to us buying Big Machine, she and I had no contact. I think it was two years. The party was like two years earlier or three years earlier, and then never had any contact through the whole thing. So I\u2019m just as confused that this is part of my life as you are. But, I choose to learn and grow from it.\u201d<\/p>\n

After Braun acquired Swift\u2019s albums, she was inspired to release rerecordings and release them as special editions, dubbed \u201cTaylor\u2019s Version.\u201d Braun ultimately sold Swift\u2019s masters to the private equity firm Shamrock Capital for a reported $405 million in November 2020. In May 2025, Swift announced that she was able to buy back her masters.<\/p>\n

Looking back on it now, Braun shared that he \u201cnever truly\u201d understood the situation but wishes Swift \u201cnothing but the best.\u201d<\/p>\n

Braun, 43, took to his Instagram Story on Tuesday, August 27, to reshare TMZ\u2019s upload of pics from Swift\u2019s trip to Rhode Island with her friends. \u201cHow was I not invited to this?!?\u201d Braun wrote, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI learned a tremendous amount from it. I chose to grow from it. I\u2019m grateful for it at this point in my life,\u201d he said on Thursday. \u201cBut I think there\u2019s this big misconception that, like, we knew each other and we had this feud and I managed her for years. And people are usually shocked to find out that I legitimately don\u2019t know her and didn\u2019t have many interactions with her and never really knew her.\u201d<\/p>\n
