{"id":2436436,"date":"2026-05-29T04:26:41","date_gmt":"2026-05-29T04:26:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/?p=2436436"},"modified":"2026-05-29T04:26:41","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T04:26:41","slug":"the-ocean-announce-their-new-lineup-and-album-solaris-debut-light-pollution-music-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/the-ocean-announce-their-new-lineup-and-album-solaris-debut-light-pollution-music-video\/","title":{"rendered":"The Ocean Announce Their New Lineup And Album &#8220;Solaris&#8221;, Debut &#8220;Light Pollution&#8221; Music Video"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>After enduring the \u2018end of an eon\u2019 that saw a significant portion of their lineup exit, <strong>The Ocean<\/strong> have taken the wraps off of their newly rebuilt lineup and their forthcoming new studio album \u201c<strong>Solaris<\/strong>\u201c. 2025 proved to be a turbulent year for the band, with the departures of vocalist <strong>Lo\u00efc Rossetti<\/strong>, drummer <strong>Paul Seidel<\/strong> and guitarist <strong>David Ramis \u00c5hfeldt<\/strong> all occurring at around a series of planned farewell shows to the band\u2019s then current lineup at the time.<\/p>\n<p>The German post-metal collective spearheaded by guitarist\/vocalist <strong>Robin Staps<\/strong> have since regrouped, with vocalists <strong>Enrico Tiberi<\/strong> (ex-<strong>EyeHate<\/strong>, etc.) and <strong>Lane Shi<\/strong> (<strong>Elizabeth Colour Wheel<\/strong>, <strong>Otay:onii<\/strong>) newly stepping in. Other newcomers joining the fold alongside <strong>Tiberi<\/strong> are guitarists <strong>Emmanuel Jessua<\/strong> (<strong>Hypno5e<\/strong>) and <strong>Marco Gennaro<\/strong>. Bassist <strong>Mattias H\u00e4gerstrand<\/strong> and drummer <strong>Jordi Farr\u00e9<\/strong> of <strong>Crippled Black Phoenix<\/strong> fame remain from the group\u2019s 2025 incarnation.<\/p>\n<p>With that new roster cemented, the band set about charting out this new chapter, \u201c<strong>Solaris<\/strong>\u201c, which <strong>Pelagic Records<\/strong> will have out on September 25th. This new record takes inspiration from <strong>Andrei Tarkovsky<\/strong>\u2018s 1972 film of the same name, with its first single, \u201c<strong>Light Pollution<\/strong>\u201c, having just been served up. A press release stated of this new track, \u2018\u201d<strong>Light Pollution<\/strong>\u201d explores the pitfalls of 21st-century technology and humanity\u2019s growing obsession with simulated reality. But do the many technological and social advances of recent decades truly represent progress?\u2019<\/p>\n<p><strong>Staps<\/strong> himself added:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve witnessed several communication revolutions throughout the 20th and 21st centuries, but have we actually become any better at communicating? Has there really been forward movement, or has the motion been orbital \u2014 have we merely been treading water? Light pollution symbolizes the transparency of the postmodern age, permeating everything and everyone. Everything is constantly visible; we\u2019ve lost the darkness to hide in, and with the relentless glare of communication, we\u2019ve also lost our privacy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The group worked with director <strong>Craig Murray<\/strong> (<strong>Mogwai<\/strong>, <strong>Converge<\/strong>) on the video clip that accompanies this nearly ten-minute track. Recording sessions for the album saw additional personnel involved, namely <strong>Thorsten Quaeschning<\/strong> of <strong>Tangerine Dream<\/strong> guesting on synth, <strong>Orestis Zafiriou<\/strong> on keys, <strong>Simen Eifring<\/strong> on trombone and <strong>Jiawei Zhang<\/strong> on vibraphone.
