Catherine had a similar reaction.<\/p>\n
\u201cI love Dutton Ranch<\/em>,\u201d she says. \u201cI had no idea how they were going to manage it, but I feel they hit it out of the park. Beth and Rip are magnetic.\u201d<\/p>\nShe adds, \u201cThey should be the villains, but somehow you love them.\u201d<\/p>\n
To her, their hardships make them more relatable, not less.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think they also come across as the underdog after all of the adversity they have both been through,\u201d she says. \u201cThat is relatable.\u201d<\/p>\n
The fandom has extended in different ways.<\/p>\n
Catherine says she watches Yellowstone<\/em> and Dutton Ranch<\/em> religiously and sometimes channels Beth\u2019s energy.<\/p>\n\u201cI definitely have days where I think I need to be more Beth and take no crap,\u201d she says. \u201cOf course, the best thing to do would be more Rip.\u201d<\/p>\n
For some fans, the fandom has spilled into real life, whether it\u2019s collecting pillows and tea towels emblazoned with Beth\u2019s saltiest quotes or couples dressing up as Beth and Rip for Halloween. Regan isn\u2019t a major merch buyer or into costume cosplay, but the show has given her something else: community.<\/p>\n
She says she has developed real friendships with other fans through X, DMs and chat groups.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is probably my favorite by-product of the show,\u201d she says. \u201cIt\u2019s fine to watch at home, but I love live chatting about the episodes while we all watch.\u201d<\/p>\n
Reilly and Hauser, meanwhile, have worked to stay somewhat insulated from the noise.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think we try and keep ourselves a little bit distant,\u201d Reilly says.<\/p>\n
Hauser adds: \u201cWe\u2019ve been hiding in Montana, now Texas.\u201d<\/p>\n
Still, Reilly understands why the relationship cuts through.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know how they love,\u201d she says. \u201cThey love utterly, devotionally.\u201d<\/p>\n
Then she lands on the simplest explanation of all:<\/p>\n
