{"id":2437123,"date":"2026-05-29T16:09:56","date_gmt":"2026-05-29T16:09:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/?p=2437123"},"modified":"2026-05-29T16:09:56","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T16:09:56","slug":"syncs-new-frontiers-clearance-creators-boutiques-and-brand-intelligence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/syncs-new-frontiers-clearance-creators-boutiques-and-brand-intelligence\/","title":{"rendered":"Sync&#8217;s new frontiers: clearance, creators, boutiques and brand intelligence"},"content":{"rendered":"<br><div>\n\n\t\t\n\t\t\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sync continues to be an important source of income for rightsholders and musicians alike, and in recent years there has been a succession of startups and new agencies bringing new ideas to the sync business.\n\n\n\n<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At our <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/musically.com\/next\/2026-agenda\/\">Music Ally NEXT conference<\/a> in June, we\u2019ll be holding a panel on \u2018Sync\u2019s New Frontiers\u2019 to discuss where the most interesting new opportunities are, as well as what technology and processes can help the sync business become even more efficient.\n\n\n\n<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ahead of that event \u2013\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/musically.com\/next\/\">you can get your tickets for the 18 June conference here<\/a>, by the way \u2013\u00a0here are some of the trends and companies that have been on our radar in recent times.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-automated-clearance-and-fractional-rights\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Automated clearance and fractional rights<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Red tape is a headache for anyone involved in clearing music for syncs, which leads into the pitch from numerous startups who think they can ease the pain.\n\n\n\n<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chordal.com\/\">Chordal<\/a><\/strong> has its \u2018InstantClear\u2019 API that helps rightsholders to pre-clear their individual shares of music, in turn enabling brands to license tracks instantly.<br\/><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.soundstripe.com\/\">Soundstripe<\/a><\/strong> has been going since 2016 as a music-licensing company, but has made some big moves recently: for example acquiring The Rights, which built a platform to automate the process of fulfilling sync-licensing requests, in 2025.<br\/><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thisisringo.com\/\">Ringo<\/a><\/strong> automates the advertising sync workflow by letting agencies upload a Spotify playlist to instantly receive ballpark pricing and clear tracks.<br\/><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/musicrightz.com\/clear-beats\/\">ClearBeats<\/a><\/strong> aims to enrich catalogues by clearing derivative rights \u2013 think covers, remixes, samples\u2026 \u2013 at the point of inception before track distribution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 id=\"h-creator-economy-and-micro-syncs\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Creator economy and micro-syncs<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The explosion of user-generated content on platforms like TikTok and YouTube has created a demand for high-volume, affordable, and \u201ctakedown-proof\u201d music \u2013\u00a0and a flurry of companies looking to meet that demand.\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n<h2 id=\"h-ai-matching-and-brand-intelligence\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">AI, matching and brand intelligence<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gut feeling has as much of a role to still play in sync as it does in the A&amp;R field, but that doesn\u2019t mean data can\u2019t be used too: using machine learning, fan analytics and tracking in inventive ways.\n\n\n\n\n<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/eightsix.com\/\">EightSix<\/a><\/strong> is an agency that uses machine-learning tech to analyse a brand\u2019s \u201cmusic DNA\u201d in order to guide its choices of music for syncs, as well as artist partnerships.<br\/><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/acrylic.la\/\">Acrylic<\/a><\/strong> is a brand new venture just emerging from beta, but its founder has <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/iamacrylic.substack.com\/about\">outlined its plans<\/a>: helping sports teams to \u201cfind the right, culturally-charged music for their social content\u201d.<br\/><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/syncit.ac\/\">SyncIt<\/a><\/strong> has a catalogue of syncable electronic-music tracks, but also uses AI to smarten up the process of searching through its selections. It\u2019s also founded by an artist: Nathan Duvall of Disciples.<br\/><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aimsapi.com\/\">Aims<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cyanite.ai\/\">Cyanite<\/a><\/strong> are two of the most prominent players in the AI-powered search space, helping rightsholders optimise their catalogues with metadata to ensure licensors can easily find the gems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<aside>\t\t\t\n\t\t<\/aside>\n\n<h2 id=\"h-marketplaces-and-new-collectives\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Marketplaces and new collectives<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even in what you\u2019d think of as the \u2018traditional\u2019 high-end sync market, there are new companies and ideas coming through. Here are some examples of those.\n\n\n\n<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.catalog.ac\/\">Catalog<\/a><\/strong> is a sync-licensing marketplace launched by music-supervision firm Too Young, which signed up an impressive roster of independent labels \u2013\u00a0Warp, Ninja Tune, Partisan Records, Beggars Group, !K7 and more.<br\/><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aura-productions.com\/\">Aura<\/a><\/strong> is in a similar ballpark in its nature: a \u2018sync collective\u2019 launched by the music supervision studio of the same name, with Accidental Records, Mesh, Erased Tapes, Tonal Union, Black Element and Nomark among its partners.<br\/><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/synclicity.co\/\">Synclicity<\/a><\/strong> is another recent launch targeting high-volume sync opportunities for emerging artists, with gaming and short-form video among its targets.<br\/><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/maiauniverse.co\/\">Maia Universe<\/a><\/strong> hails from Sweden, and boasts local music royalty among its investors: <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/musically.com\/2025\/05\/27\/max-martin-chips-in-to-maia-universes-e1m-funding-round\/https:\/\/musically.com\/2025\/05\/27\/max-martin-chips-in-to-maia-universes-e1m-funding-round\/\">songwriter and producer Max Martin<\/a>.<br\/><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/smash.hoopr.ai\/\">Hoopr Smash<\/a><\/strong> launched in 2025 out of Indian music-licensing firm Hoopr as a self-serve marketplace for brands, agencies and influencers alike to license film and regional music for their projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is just a snapshot of some of the sync startups and agencies we\u2019ve been tracking.
