The MAGA fanbase erupted in fury after country superstar Martina McBride announced on Thursday that she is backing out of The Great American State Fair<\/a>, a President Donald Trump<\/a>-aligned event she claimed she was misled about.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI was presented with an opportunity to perform at a nonpartisan event but that turned out to be misleading,\u201d McBride said in an announcement on Thursday. \u201cI asked lots of questions and was assured this was a nonpartisan event that was meant to celebrate ALL 50 states.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n McBride joins a growing list of performers<\/a> who are dropping out<\/a> at the event scheduled to be held at the National Mall and organized by the self-described \u201cnon-partisan\u201d<\/a> Freedom 250 organization created via a presidential order. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n The singer wrote that she initially believed \u201cthis was a great way to celebrate the states and also bring people together in the way that only music can,\u201d and \u201csaw it as just a bigger version of so many state fairs.\u201d<\/span> <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cSounds fun, right? Wholesome even. Yesterday things started changing and what we were told is, in fact, not what is happening,\u201d McBride wrote. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI\u2019ve spent my entire career singing songs about real people with real issues. I\u2019ve been blessed with the opportunity to be a voice for those who have felt like they didn\u2019t have one,\u201d she continued. \u201cIt greatly upsets me that any fan who has been moved by my music may now feel like I\u2019m abandoning the meaning behind those songs. I assure you, that is not the case.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n McBride\u2019s statement and withdrawal from the event sparked anger amongst those loyal to Trump, including Richard Grenell<\/a>, the president\u2019s former acting director of national intelligence, who took to X and slammed the country singer. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cYou\u2019ve always been a woke Lefty,\u201d Grenell wrote<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Other right-wing accounts came in droves to pile on the artist. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cWhat a coward,\u201d conservative influencer Tomi Lahren <\/span>replied<\/span><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cImagine being this weak,\u201d right-wing page Catturd <\/span>said on X<\/span><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Notorious MAGA-friendly page Libs of TikTok also <\/span>called McBride<\/span><\/a> \u201cpathetic.\u201d <\/span>However, despite the backlash from conservatives, McBride also received a round of support from others online. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cMartina, you are a beautiful artist, mother, citizen, American.
