Paul McCartney<\/a> has looked back on the \u201cexcitement\u201d he felt while working with The Rolling Stones<\/a> in NME<\/em>\u2019s latest In Conversation<\/em><\/a> video series \u2013 check out what he had to say below.<\/p>\n The Beatles<\/a> legend sat down with us on the eve of sharing his 19th solo album, \u2018The Boys Of Dungeon Lane<\/a>\u2019, and spoke to us about his memories of the Fab Four, as well as touching on potential tours in the future.<\/p>\n On the latter, he said his manager had asked him about retirement when he hit 50, which he understood because \u201cwe thought 30 was really old [when] we were 20\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cBut it came, and it went,\u201d he said. \u201cPeople were still playing, and audiences like the music. If the music is from that period, they don\u2019t get to hear it live any other way, so you\u2019ve got to hear Neil Young live to get the whole feel of Neil \u2013 the Neil feel.<\/p>\n \u201cSame with a lot of bands \u2013 the Stones, The Eagles<\/a>. There\u2019s nothing like it.\u201d\u00a0Upon mentioning The Stones, we pointed out that it had just been announced that\u00a0they\u2019re releasing a new album soon<\/a>, with him on it.<\/p>\n Marking his second appearance on a Stones record in the last few years after featuring on \u2018Hackney Diamonds<\/a>\u2018, McCartney told us it was \u201creally exciting\u201d, because he didn\u2019t normally play \u201cas a session guy\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was really nice to just show up at a studio with your bass and just say, \u2018Right, where do you want me?\u201d he said. \u201cYou start playing, and they show you the song, and I start thinking, \u2018I\u2019m playing with the Stones!\u2019<\/p>\n\n
