Kelli Giddish<\/a> has been tight with Law & Order: Special Victims Unit<\/a><\/em> costar Ice-T<\/a> from the jump, ever since he made an affirming comment about a hairy situation during her first day playing Detective Amanda Rollins on the NBC<\/a> series.<\/p>\n As Giddish recounted to People<\/a> in a new interview, she shot a death scene for a film in Los Angeles the night before she was scheduled to be fitted for her The Good Wife<\/a><\/em> wardrobe and make her debut as Rollins in SVU<\/em> in New York City. She only had time for a \u201ctrailer shower\u201d before taking a red-eye flight across the country, and as it turned out, she didn\u2019t get all the fake blood out of her hair.<\/p>\n \u201cI show up to SVU<\/em>, and they\u2019re like, \u2018Your hair is still pink.\u2019 And I\u2019m like, \u2018Sorry. Think we can just put it up?\u2019\u201d she said with a laugh.<\/p>\n When Giddish met Ice-T on set, she joked about her pink-tinged locks. \u201cI was like, \u2018Hey, how are you? I thought I\u2019d do this,\u2019\u201d she remembered. \u201cAnd he goes, \u2018You do you, boo.\u2019 And I go, \u2018Awesome. Love it.\u2019 That relationship was set in stone right there: mutual respect and love.\u201d<\/p>\n Heidi Gutman\/NBC<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Giddish showed up as Rollins in SVU<\/em>\u2019s Season 13 premiere, \u201cScorched Earth,\u201d premiering on September 21, 2011 (though fans might recall she had a guest-starring role as another character<\/a> years prior). She left the full-time cast in Season 24 but made her return as a series regular in the just-concluded 27th season.<\/p>\n That said, Giddish and Ice-T didn\u2019t share the screen as much in Season 27 due to budgetary constraints<\/a>, as the latter explained to TMZ<\/a> in November 2025.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s just basically business. They brought Kelli back, and at the end of the day, they couldn\u2019t really keep both of us on full-time, as far as budget-wise,\u201d Ice-T said at the time. \u201cThey said, \u2018Ice, we\u2019ll have you come in and out this year.\u2019 That way we could bring \u2014 everybody wanted Kelli back. We\u2019ve got new cops and stuff like that. But I\u2019m not leaving the show. I\u2019m more concerned with going to Season 28. So, this year, they said, \u2018Ice, we\u2019re going to work you a little less.\u2019 Everything was cool with me.
