Before Matt Brown<\/strong>\u2019s death in May 2026, matriarch Ami Brown<\/strong> endured a cancer battle, patriarch Billy Brown<\/strong> sadly died in 2021 and daughter Snowbird \u201cBird\u201d Brown<\/strong> had dealt with severe health issues.<\/p>\n

Ami Brown\u2019s Cancer Battle<\/h2>\n

Ami was diagnosed with stage three lung cancer in 2017 and went into remission the following year after she completed treatment. At the time of her cancer battle, Ami told People<\/em> that she was motivated to keep fighting.<\/p>\n

Ami Brown\u2019s Ongoing Health Issues<\/h2>\n

After Ami has been hospitalized several times since her remission. She was hospitalized with a severe case of pneumonia in March 2024 and was hospitalized for the same diagnosis again in February 2025.<\/p>\n

Ami was hospitalized for a third time in April 2026, which her son Bear Brown<\/strong> confirmed on social media<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cHey, so I just got some news about Mom that is not the best. It\u2019s not the worst either. It could definitely be worse,\u201d he told his followers. \u201cSo, I just got a message that Mom is sick, that she\u2019s not feeling particularly well, that she\u2019s got a fever, and that she\u2019s congested, and so they\u2019ve taken her to the hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that she seemed \u201cOK\u201d and that his siblings are \u201ctaking good care of her\u201d while she was in the hospital.<\/p>\n

Billy Brown\u2019s Fatal Seizure<\/h2>\n

Billy died in February 2021<\/a> at the age of 68 after he suffered a seizure.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are heartbroken to announce that our beloved patriarch Billy Brown passed away last night after suffering from a seizure,\u201d Bear wrote via Instagram at the time. \u201cHe was our best friend \u2014 a wonderful and loving dad, granddad and husband and he will be dearly missed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bear added that the beloved patriarch lived his \u201clife on his terms, off the grid and off the land and taught us to live like that as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Snowbird Brown\u2019s Ongoing Health Issues<\/h2>\n

Another member of the Brown family who has been open about their health issues is Snowbird.<\/p>\n

In 2022, Snowbird revealed she experienced severe abdominal pain that led her to see a doctor. After she underwent a medical examination, doctors found massive cystic tumors that took up her entire abdomen.<\/p>\n

Snowbird later underwent emergency surgery to remove two tumors from her ovaries, revealing that one weighed eight pounds while the other weighed four pounds.<\/p>\n

She shared a health update in May 2026, revealing that she\u2019s mostly feeling good. \u201cI am healed from the surgery and the removal of the tumors. Luckily, they were not cancerous. They were benign. They were cystic in nature and they were borderline tumors,\u201d she said via Instagram<\/a>, adding that the tumors could potentially come back because they were \u201ccystic in nature.\u201d<\/p>\n

Snowbird added that no tumors have returned. \u201cI have a couple really good doctors. I get my bloodwork done a lot,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The TV personality went on to reveal that she\u2019s been dealing with other health issues in recent years. \u201dI\u2019m working with my doctors and everything and it\u2019s not the tumors. It\u2019s a different thing,\u201d she said of her latest health issues.<\/p>\n

While Snowbird did not reveal all of her recent diagnoses, she did share that she \u201chas been anemic for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m tired, really all the time, because of the anemia,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s something I\u2019ve been battling with for a couple years now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Matt Brown\u2019s Death in May 2026<\/h2>\n

The family experienced another tragedy when Ami and Billy\u2019s oldest son, Matt, died in May 2026 of what was believed to be a suicide. (A cause of death was not immediately revealed.)<\/p>\n

The Okanogan County Sheriff\u2019s Office received a call on May 27, 2026, in which someone reported they saw a man sitting in the shallow waters of the Okanogan River in Washington state, according to TMZ. The caller said that the man was lying face down in the river and he was being swept away by the current.<\/p>\n

The Sister Wives star, 52, shared via Instagram on Friday, October 6, that her older sibling passed away on Thursday, October 5, after choosing to stop chemotherapy treatment five weeks earlier. \u201cJust 2 months short of his 55th [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A search was set out for Matt, and Bear confirmed days later on May 30, 2026, that Matt died at the age of 43<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey found a body in the river a few hours ago and it was positively identified as being Matt,\u201d Bear said via TikTok<\/a>. \u201c[Brother] Noah<\/strong> was with them and helped them pull the body<\/a> out of the water. Noah identified [Matt].\u201d<\/p>\n
