\u201cOn Saturday, May 30, 2026, a group of private citizens conducting a search along the Okanogan River located a deceased individual in the river,\u201d a Sunday, May 31, updated press release<\/a> shared by Washington state\u2019s Okanogan County Sheriff Office<\/a>\u2019s official Facebook account read in part. \u201cThe individual was recovered and brought to shore, where he was positively identified as Matthew Brown.\u201d<\/p>\n

The press release, signed by Sheriff Jodie Barcus<\/strong>, continued, \u201cMatthew Brown has been transferred into the custody and care of the Okanogan County Coroner. The cause and manner of death will be determined by the Coroner\u2019s Office. The Okanogan County Sheriff\u2019s Office extends its condolences to Mr. Brown\u2019s family and loved ones during this difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n

The press release concluded by stating that \u201cno further information\u201d will be released, citing an \u201congoing investigation\u201d into the reality TV star\u2019s untimely death.<\/p>\n

Bear Brown<\/strong><\/a>, Matt\u2019s brother, confirmed his sibling\u2019s death at the age of 43 via TikTok on Saturday, revealing that their other brother, Noah Brown<\/strong>, was with the group of private citizens when they located his oldest brother\u2019s remains.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThey found a body in the river a few hours ago and it was positively identified as being Matt,\u201d Bear, 38, said at the time. \u201cNoah was with them and helped them pull the body out of the water. Noah identified [Matt].\u201d<\/p>\n

While an official cause of death has yet to be publicly revealed at the time of publication, Bear speculated that his brother\u2019s death was \u201cself-inflicted,\u201d adding that he \u201cnever would have suspected that [Matt] would have hurt himself\u201d even though his brother \u201cstruggled for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI was so worried that he would end up ODed or something like that,\u201d he continued. \u201cI didn\u2019t think he would hurt himself.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cI ask people to please, please be respectful to my family and to my mom. Please watch the comments that you leave, guys. Sometimes words can hurt more than fists can \u2026 In one of [Matt\u2019s] last videos, he was talking about how negative people were on his posts.
