The lack of competition is bad,\u201d Quinn said of consolidation, adding that he \u201cwould not survive a day\u201d at a corporation with its inherent \u201cpoliticking\u201d and \u201clayers of middle management to get to a decision\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The independent veteran drew a laugh on Saturday (May 30) when he said, \u201cThe idea of putting two of those together\u2026 How would you feel is A24 and Neon merged? That would be ridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Quinn also decried what he called \u201cthe Uberisation of entertainment, the algorithm\u201d. He continued, \u201cI don\u2019t want to understand it, I want no part of it. It\u2019s really important for us as a company that we\u2019re a true independent and stay true to our filmmakers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Just over one week since the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.screendaily.com\/news\/cristian-mungius-fjord-wins-palme-dor-at-2026-cannes-film-festival\/5217162.article\" target=\"_blank\">Palme d\u2019Or success<\/a> of Cristian Mongiu\u2019s <em>Fjord, <\/em>to which Neon holds multiple territories, Quinn issued his familiar mantra on the subject, asserting that he has never expected to win any of the company\u2019s top prizes in Cannes and prefers to focus on working with the best filmmakers in the world.
