Charli xcx\u2019s new album<\/a> has been christened Music, Fashion, Film<\/em> and will be released July 24 through Atlantic. Its cover is a black and white photo by longtime collaborator Aidan Zamiri featuring the Velvet Underground\u2019s John Cale, fashion designer Marc Jacobs and director Martin Scorsese, apparently intended to represent each aspect of the title.<\/p>\n \u201c11 songs, 30 minutes, 5 seconds,\u201d the artist wrote on Instagram about the project, which has been led by the singles \u201cRock Music\u201d and \u201cSS26.\u201d It arrives after Charli sparked debate in a spring British Vogu<\/em>e cover story by declaring, \u201cI think the dancefloor is dead, so now we\u2019re making rock music.\u201d She later clarified the comment in a teasing Instagram caption: \u201ca video of me making a song called \u2018rock music\u2019 that is not actually rock music which is funny because i never said i was making a rock album. love you xx\u201d<\/p>\n More from Spin:<\/p>\n The new album title is taken from an \u201cSS26\u201d lyric, which proclaims, \u201cwe\u2019re walkin\u2019 on a runway that goes straight to hell \/ nothing\u2019s gonna save us, not music, fashion or film.\u201d As for the presence of the 84-year-old Cale, the two worked together last year on Charli\u2019s Wuthering Heights<\/em> soundtrack<\/a>.<\/p>\n Music, Fashion, Film <\/em>continues a prolific stretch for Charli following the seemingly endless afterlife of her album\u00a0BRAT<\/em>. In the past year, she\u2019s moved heavily into film acting while also contributing music to the pop star-centric\u00a0Mother Mary<\/em>.<\/p>\n She\u2019ll presumably show off some new rock moves during a handful of summer festival appearances, which include Lollapalooza in Chicago, Outside Lands in San Francisco and the U.K.\u2019s Reading and Leeds festivals in August.<\/p>\n
