Now that Hannah Harper<\/a>\u2018s journey on\u00a0American Idol<\/a><\/em> is done, she\u2019s hitting the road<\/a> and working on new music, but one song she\u2019s struggling to finish is a track dedicated to her husband, Devon Mendenhall<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThat has been in the works for so long, but it just feels like words aren\u2019t enough, if that makes sense,\u201d Harper told Parade<\/a>. \u201cI have, like, six verses, different tunes. None of them have been finished. So I\u2019m hoping that now that we\u2019re out of [Idol<\/em>] \u2026 because that put us to the test. We were both so exhausted mentally, physically, all the things. So it definitely needs to happen. I know that it will. It\u2019s just one of those that I feel like I can\u2019t even begin to scratch the surface on a love song that is ours<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n She added that her husband, whom she shares three children with, \u201cdeserves a whole catalog of songs,\u201d which she is planning on writing.<\/p>\n Harper noted that she prefers writing alone until she can find a group of people to \u201cconsistently\u201d work with on music. \u201cIf I found a couple of people that I wrote with and wrote with them long term, I think I would really enjoy it rather than, \u2018We\u2019re going to put you with these people and then over here, and then over here,’\u201d she explained. \u201cIt\u2019s a relationship and it\u2019s somewhat intimate, so I want to be able to maintain the sentimental establishment of the song and how it\u2019s written.\u201d<\/p>\n She admitted that she didn\u2019t get any songwriting done during the craziness of\u00a0American Idol<\/em>, as she was focused on \u201cdeveloping who I wanted to be as an artist\u201d throughout the competition. Now that it\u2019s over, though, she plans to write some music about the experience.<\/p>\n
