And Guthrie, the co-host of the Today show and a pretty big name in Hollywood, has reportedly done all she can to help the search for her mom. That includes messages on social media and even a very large reward for information. But after all this time, we still have no answers<\/a>.<\/p>\n It\u2019s reportedly not for lack of trying. She feels that depending only on the official investigation is not enough anymore \u2014 that\u2019s why she\u2019s investing so heavily in private investigators and outside specialists,\u201d a source told the outlet.<\/p>\n NewsNation senior national correspondent Brian Entin couldn\u2019t confirm the report, but did say on \u201cJesse Weber Live\u201d\u00a0in Las Vegas, where he hosted a weekend panel at CrimeCon about the case, \u201cI haven\u2019t heard anything about any private investigators.\u201d However, Entin also added, \u201cAt the same time, I would imagine that Savannah Guthrie<\/a> is probably getting frustrated.\u201d<\/p>\n Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Department Sgt. Aaron Cross previously told Entin<\/a> that the beginning of the investigation was \u201cdescribed to me as, frankly, a s\u2014 show.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIf our own detectives aren\u2019t speaking to each other about which witnesses they\u2019ve already spoken to, what chance is there for agencies that aren\u2019t even located inside the same floor?\u201d Cross said. There has been a lot of criticism of how the investigation was handled, including the fact that DNA evidence recovered from the crime scene was originally sent to a private lab and not handed over to the FBI.<\/p>\n Nanos told\u00a0People<\/a>\u00a0in a recent interview that he\u2019s no longer communicating with the Guthrie family directly, confirming that the FBI is now handling those updates. The sheriff also said he understood that the family must be \u201cfrustrated\u201d with the lack of answers.<\/p>\n \u201cThe public is frustrated. Even the Guthrie family,\u201d he said. \u201cEvery passing second must feel like 100 days because they don\u2019t know. What matters is moving forward carefully so we don\u2019t make mistakes or falsely accuse somebody or make a bad arrest.\u201d<\/p>\n But he seemed to be certain that answers would come. \u201cMy team, I\u2019ve said all along, they\u2019re gonna solve this,\u201d he told People. \u201cI fully 100% believe that. \u2026 When you have the best minds of the country working on problems, I think they\u2019re gonna solve them.
