Jeffrey Epstein<\/a> survivor Jess Michaels, who was sexually assaulted by him in 1991, has accused the Royal Family of \u201cprotecting\u201d Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor<\/a>. She said, \u201cSix years ago, the palace knew Andrew wasn\u2019t just a problem: he could face a criminal investigation. And they sat on it.\u201d<\/p>\n Talking about Virginia Giuffre, one of the most prominent survivors of\u00a0Epstein\u2019s sexual abuse who accused Prince Andrew of raping her when she was a minor, Michaels told The Telegraph UK<\/a>, \u201cProtecting him meant doubting her. Virginia Roberts Giuffre was telling the truth, and she didn\u2019t live to see them admit it. That breaks my heart and it should break everyone\u2019s. This is what institutions do. They protect powerful men and leave the people they harmed to carry it.\u201d<\/p>\n Giuffre was raped, not once but three times, by the former prince, ABC reports.<\/a>\u00a0She filed a federal lawsuit against Andrew in 2021, accusing him of sexually abusing her when she was 17. In April 2025, she died by suicide.<\/p>\n Michaels, a former dancer, told the publication, \u201cI\u2019m glad the UK is finally investigating. A little late, but it\u2019s the very least they could do. Meanwhile, our own government named us as victims, shields the men who harmed us, and still treats us like the problem.\u201d<\/p>\n Mountbatten-Windsor, who was stripped of his titles last year over his ties to Epstein,\u00a0was arrested in February 2026. It marked the first time the former prince was arrested over his links to Epstein, but he was soon released. He denies all allegations.<\/p>\n The BBC<\/a>\u00a0reported on May 30 that an archive of more than 30,000 emails was handed to the Lord Chamberlain, the most senior officer in the royal household, in 2020.
