Love or hate her, there\u2019s simply no denying that Taylor Swift has a special and unique place in country music history. Before she became the pop megastar that she is today, she had a\u00a0LOT<\/em> of success in the genre. Simply put, she took the genre by storm as a teenager with the release of her self-titled debut album in 2006.<\/p>\n Throughout her limited time in the genre, which mainly spanned four albums and six years in total, she snagged an impressive 12 CMA Awards, six ACM Awards and seven Grammys. Notably, she won Entertainer of the Year not once but twice at both the CMAs and ACMs as well. This doesn\u2019t even mention all the Billboard records she broke along the way \u2014 some that were recently broken by none other than Ella Langley.<\/p>\n Of course, these wins were propped up by smash hits that still remain key pieces in her discography today, such as \u201cLove Story,\u201d \u201cYou Belong With Me,\u201d \u201cOur Song\u201d and \u201cAll Too Well,\u201d which would receive even more love after the 10-minute-long \u201cTaylor\u2019s Version\u201d was released back in 2021.<\/p>\n Her sudden departure from country music in 2014 with the release of her Grammy-winning\u00a01989<\/em> album obviously left a bad taste in many mouths. Though you won\u2019t see me calling myself a Swiftie, a lot of the criticism was ultimately unwarranted. All things considered, she handled the transition gracefully, never bad-mouthing the genre and ultimately returning on multiple occasions.<\/p>\n This was highlighted back in 2020 when she performed the severely underrated \u201cbetty\u201d from her alt. folk album,\u00a0folklore<\/em>, at the 55th ACM Awards. Additionally, she\u2019s collaborated with the likes of Chris Stapleton and Keith Urban upon the \u201cTaylor\u2019s Version\u201d re-release of both\u00a0Fearless<\/em> and\u00a0Red<\/em> in 2021, teaming up on \u201cvault tracks,\u201d \u201cI Bet You Think About Me\u201d and \u201cThat\u2019s When.\u201d<\/p>\n Recently, Swift has continued to firmly cement herself in the pop world, scoring massive albums with Midnights, <\/em>THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT <\/em>and last year\u2019s The Life of a Showgirl. <\/em>Despite the mind-boggling success over the past decade, it\u2019s always been speculated whether she\u2019d ever make a full-fledged return to country music.<\/p>\n Well, it looks like she\u2019s making a brief return with her upcoming song for Disney\u2019s\u00a0Toy Story 5<\/em>. Announced today, Swift will be releasing a new track for the fifth installment in the Toy Story<\/em> franchise this Friday, June 5th, titled \u201cI Knew It, You Knew It.\u201d<\/p>\n Though it\u2019s not explicitly confirmed by Swift herself, Disney itself is touting the song as her \u201creturn\u201d to country, saying it \u201cmarks a return\u201d to her country roots while simultaneously \u201cblending styles that have defined her record-breaking career.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cInspired by the rootin\u2019 tootin\u2019 cowgirl Jessie\u2019s ongoing journey in \u2018Toy Story 5\u2019 that began back in \u2018Toy Story 2,\u2019 \u2018I Knew It, I Knew You\u2019 also marks a return to Taylor Swift\u2019s country roots, blending styles that have defined her record-breaking career as a songwriter and artist.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n It\u2019s a bit interesting that Disney itself is running with the whole \u201creturn to country\u201d angle, despite Swift not revealing anything other than the title, release date and her connection to the Toy Story <\/em>films. With that being said, the use of a cowboy emoji in the caption seems to indicate it\u2019ll be country-inspired at least. Either way, we\u2019ll find out on Friday.<\/p>\n\n<\/blockquote>\n
