Taylor Swift is putting her cowboy boots back on. <\/p>\n
The singer announced that her new song, \u201cI Knew It, I Knew You,\u201d will be released Friday as part of the soundtrack for \u201cToy Story 5,\u201d which hits theaters June 19. Swift wrote on Instagram<\/a> that she \u201cwrote this song as soon\u201d as she returned \u201chome from the screening\u201d of the film. <\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I\u2019ve adored since I was a 5 year old kid watching the first Toy Story movie. I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages,\u201d Swift said. \u201cSometimes you just know, right?\u201d<\/p>\n Swift has been teasing her participation in \u201cToy Story 5\u201d with billboards<\/a> in cities including Chicago, Toronto and Austin, Texas, that read \u201cTS,\u201d both the singer\u2018s and the film\u2019s initials. The billboard also featured 13 cartoon clouds, a nod to Swift\u2019s lucky number. On Monday morning, Swift\u2019s website debuted a countdown screen featuring a graphic of a ranch house, a \u201cTS\u201d billboard and the beloved \u201cToy Story\u201d character Jessie. <\/p>\n In a statement, Disney explained that the song was inspired by Jessie, a cowgirl toy that first appeared in 1999\u2019s \u201cToy Story 2.\u201d Swift\u2019s song will emulate her early country style. <\/p>\n \u201c\u2018I Knew It, I Knew You\u2019 also marks a return to Swift\u2019s country roots, blending styles that have defined her record-breaking career as a songwriter and artist,\u201d Disney said. <\/p>\n \u201cToy Story 5\u201d director and co-screenwriter Andrew Stanton called it \u201ckismet\u201d and said \u201cit instantly felt like it had always belonged there\u201d upon first listening to the song. <\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s incredible just how meaningful it\u2019s been having Taylor write and perform this song,\u201d Stanton said in a statement<\/a>. \u201cHer connection to Jessie and the immediate way she understood what the character was going through was undeniable. The song is so deeply connected to \u2018Toy Story.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Swift will also release acoustic and piano versions of the single, all three of which are now available to preorder on her website<\/a>.
