Next month, the great avant-pop adventurer Kelela will release the new album new avatar<\/em>, her follow-up to 2023’s Raven<\/a><\/em>. The new LP features contributions from people like PinkPantheress, Foushe\u00e9, and A. K. Paul, and we’ve already heard the early singles “idea 1<\/a>” and “linknb<\/a>.” Today, Kelela announces a tour and shares another new track.<\/p>\n As with the last two singles, Kelela co-produced her new single “point blank” with PinkPantheress collaborator Oscar Scheller. The song uses the sounds of drum ‘n’ bass and UK garage to build something minimal and intimate, while Kelela sings about the amount of mental work that a stressful relationship demands. Here’s what she says in a press release:<\/p>\n I first outline the baseline dynamic, which is that we’re expected to endure men’s inability to self-regulate. The fantasy many of us are invested in is one where we do such a good job of holding space that it starts to rub off on our partner over time, eventually inducing some sort of revelation and building their emotional maturity.
