It was October 1998, when Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam, Karisma Kapoor, and all the other actors were shooting for Sooraj Barjatya\u2019s Hum Saath Saath Hain in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. And that was the time when the Wanted actor was embroiled in a legal soup after accusations being made of killing a blackbuck. Khan denied the allegations in court.<\/p>\n

A film on the controversial incident<\/strong><\/p>\n

There\u2019s a film called Kala Hiran which was announced and the poster went viral on social media. Amid the announcement, Khan has issued legal notice to the makers through DSK Legal.<\/p>\n

The notice, dated April 24, 2026, alleges that the project is inspired by the actor\u2019s blackbuck hunting case and claims that the film could harm Khan\u2019s reputation, interfere with ongoing judicial proceedings, and violate his personality rights. The matter is still sub-judice at the Rajasthan High Court. And any content around the case may strip the actor of a fair trial.<\/p>\n

When Salman Khan was convicted in the case<\/strong><\/p>\n

A Jodhpur-based trial<\/a> court held Salman Khan guilty in the 1998 blackbuck case in 2018 while acquitting others in the case.<\/p>\n

The actor had been sentenced to five years in prison and fined Rs 10,000. The court had
\nreserved its judgment<\/a>\u00a0on 28 March after the hearing of the final arguments. In October 1998, five actors of the movie\u00a0Hum Saath Saath Hain\u00a0were named as accused in a police complaint by a local Bishnoi community.<\/p>\n

During the shooting of the movie, Salman Khan allegedly went on a shooting expedition along with co-actors Saif Ali Khan, Neelam, Sonali Bendre and Tabu, killing two blackbucks in the Kankani village of Jodhpur. The actors were booked under the Wildlife Protection Act which prohibits the hunting of blackbucks.<\/p>\n

In 2008,\u00a0
\nSalman Khan<\/a>\u00a0spoke about his involvement in the Blackbuck poaching case and said he wasn\u2019t the one who shot the animal. In an interview with India Today, when asked about the incident, the actor took a long pause and said, \u201cIt\u2019s a long story there, and I wasn\u2019t the one who shot the Blackbuck.\u201d When the journalist asked why he didn\u2019t take the name of the culprit,
\nSalman replied<\/a>, \u201cThere\u2019s no point.\u201d<\/p>\n
