\n \n More than 20 police officers responsible for protecting the royal family have been placed on \u200brestricted duties after some were accused of falling \u200casleep at Windsor Castle and leaving their posts unattended, London police said.\n <\/p>\n \n A total of 23 officers from the Royalty and \u200bSpecialist Protection command have been served with \u200bmisconduct notices, with 21 of them on restricted \u2060duties, following what the force described as an urgent \u200binvestigation launched last month, the Metropolitan Police said.\n <\/p>\n \n \u201cThe alleged \u200bbehaviour falls below the high standards expected of officers, particularly in frontline protective roles,\u201d a spokesperson for the force said.\n <\/p>\n \n The \u200ballegations came to light after the Sun newspaper reported \u200bthat officers were accused of leaving their posts unattended at Windsor, \u200cone \u2060of King Charles\u2019 residences, as well as sleeping while on duty.\n <\/p>\n \n Officers from the police specialist unit are responsible for protecting members of the Royal Family and \u200bguarding royal residences.\n <\/p>\n \n The \u200btwo officers \u2060not placed on restricted duties would not be deployed to royal residences while \u200bthe investigation continued, the police statement said, \u200badding \u2060that enquiries were also under way at other royal residences.\n <\/p>\n
