The Beacon has you covered: June 5-11 is \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thebeacon.film\/programs\/entry\/bleak-week-cinema-of-despair\">Bleak Week: Cinema of Despair<\/a>,\u201d a selection of international films that examine, according to the theater\u2019s website,\u00a0\u201cthe darkest sides of humanity, as well as some of the bleakest points in human history.\u201d Among the films are Michael Haneke\u2019s \u201c<strong>Funny Games<\/strong>\u201d (June 6 and 11), Lars von Trier\u2019s \u201c<strong>Dancer in the Dark<\/strong>\u201d (June 8) and Gus Van Sant\u2019s \u201c<strong>Elephant<\/strong>\u201d (June 9). It shares billing with Karyn Kusama\u2019s 2009 horror film \u201c<strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.seattletimes.com\/entertainment\/movies\/nerdy-and-needy-are-neat-in-jennifers-body\/\">Jennifer\u2019s Body<\/a><\/strong>,\u201d June 5-10. Next up: anime master Hayao Miyazaki\u2019s gorgeous Oscar winner \u201c<strong>Spirited Away<\/strong>\u201d (June 12-17, screening daily in dubbed English at 4 p.m. and Japanese with English subtitles at 7 p.m.), alongside the horror\/comedy\/potential cult classic \u201c<strong>Buffet Infinity<\/strong>,\u201d a film told entirely through low-budget TV ads (June 12-16). Father\u2019s Day weekend brings Nicolas Cage in \u201c<strong>Raising Arizona<\/strong>\u201d (June 19-24) and the comedy \u201c<strong>Bottoms<\/strong>\u201d (June 19-23), featuring, in a small role, former Seahawk Marshawn Lynch. Cheryl Dunye\u2019s queer cinema classic \u201c<strong>The Watermelon Woman<\/strong>\u201d celebrates its 30<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary June 8 at Northwest Film Forum. Tsui Hark&#8217;s\u00a0action comedy \u201c<strong>Peking Opera Blues<\/strong>\u201d turns 40, with a new restoration, June 15 at Northwest Film Forum. The Japanese cyberpunk classic \u201c<strong>Rubber\u2019s Lover<\/strong>,\u201d in a new remaster, celebrates its 30<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary at Northwest Film Forum June 30. The latest in its \u201cUnstreamable\u201d series \u2014 films you can\u2019t find on any streaming service \u2014 is \u201c<strong>By Hook or By Crook,<\/strong>\u201d a 2001 queer buddy film screening in a new restoration (June 18, 20-21). \u201c<strong>She Don\u2019t Fade<\/strong>\u201d is a collection of rarely seen short films from Cheryl Dunye (\u201cThe Watermelon Woman\u201d), screening June 3, 5, 7 and 10. I\u00f1\u00e1rritu\u2019s 2000 feature debut \u201c<strong>Amores Perros<\/strong>,\u201d in which three strangers find their lives entwined in Mexico City, screens in a new restoration at SIFF Uptown beginning June 12. \u201c<strong>She\u2019s the He<\/strong>,\u201d a teen comedy made by and for trans people, arrives at SIFF Film Center beginning June 12.
