Did Meryl Streep<\/a><\/span> not watch the original run of \u201cRoseanne?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n The three-time Oscar winner \u2014 who is considered one of the best actors of her generation \u2014 admitted to People<\/a><\/span> in a piece published Friday that she recently saw \u201cLady Bird\u201d star Laurie Metcalf<\/a><\/span> perform and thought she was so good that Streep was tempted to \u201cjust retire\u201d from acting altogether.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cBasically I don\u2019t know how to act… When I see people do it, I think, \u2018How did she do that?\u2019\u201d Streep told the magazine before giving Metcalf quite the gushing shout-out. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI just saw \u2018Death of a Salesman\u2019 last night. I can\u2019t believe Laurie Metcalf just blew my mind… all of them! And I thought, \u2018I better just retire, because I don\u2019t know how the fuck she did that.\u2019 What an artist.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Asked if she\u2019d seen Metcalf after the show, Streep quipped that she \u201ckissed her feet.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n The \u201cDevil Wears Prada 2\u201d star went on to explain that her personal approach to acting is more instinctual.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cSo yeah, I don\u2019t know how to do it,\u201d Streep said of acting. \u201cI go into everything, not knowing how people do it. And you sort of feel and listen and pick it up as you go along. But I don\u2019t have a method \u2014 when you say \u2018Oh, you went method,\u2019 I don\u2019t even know what \u2018the method\u2019 is. I never studied it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
