The Princess of Wales made a surprise appearance alongside King
\nCharles and Queen Camilla to recognise the work of Cancer Research
\nUK.<\/p>\n

At a reception
\nto mark the organisation\u2019s 125th<\/sup> anniversary, the King
\nand Catherine appeared together at their first cancer awareness
\nevent since their diagnoses and treatments in 2024.<\/h5>\n

Queen Camilla and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were also
\nin attendance to celebrate cancer researchers, medical
\nprofessionals, and other partners who work at Cancer Research
\nUK.<\/p>\n

The organisation researches more than 200 forms of cancer and in
\nthe past 50 years, according to their official website, they have
\ndoubled survival rates for cancer patients in the United
\nKingdom.<\/p>\n

Catherine was \u201creally wonderful\u201d<\/em> according to Davina
\nMcCall, a broadcaster who underwent surgery to remove a benign
\nbrain tumour and was later diagnosed with breast cancer.<\/p>\n

Speaking to reporters afterwards, McCall said it was a
\n\u201cliberating\u201d<\/em> conversation and spoke of how being a public
\nfigure on the level of King Charles and Catherine, and dealing with
\na cancer diagnosis, must have been very difficult.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t imagine what it must be like having going through
\nsomething like cancer, and then sort of having to tell people about
\nit, when possibly it would have been much easier and nicer to not
\nhave to share it with the world,\u201d<\/em> she said.<\/p>\n

During the reception, the royals viewed exhibits from Cancer
\nResearch UK on how technology has advanced their research; and
\nheard how the organisation plans to invest \u00a31 billion into cancer
\nresearch over the next three years.<\/p>\n

On the Royal Family\u2019s official
\nsocial media accounts<\/a>, Cancer Research UK was praised for
\n\u201c125 years of life-changing research\u201d<\/em> and tireless work to
\n\u201ctransform how cancer is understood, prevented, detected and
\ntreated.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

King Charles was diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer in
\nFebruary 2024 following a health check-up. He still receives
\ntreatments,
\nthough announced in December that thanks to early detection and
\nmedical care,<\/a> he would be scaling back treatment this year.<\/p>\n

Catherine was diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer
\naround the same time, though publicly announced the news in March
\n2024,
