Ol Parker<\/a>-directed romcom film, and Brett has heaped praise on his co-star, describing Jennifer as “extraordinary”.<\/p>\nBrett – who is best known for playing Roy Kent in Ted Lasso, the hit Apple TV series – told Extra: “I think she is a phenomenal artist. <\/p>\n
“I think it is extraordinary to do as many different things as she has done at the level that she has done them with the success that she has done them and how it seems to transcend time and … You know, you forget how many f****** bangers she has in her catalogue.<\/p>\n
“I also genuinely \u2014 as much as I think she is beloved \u2014 I think she’s underrated as an actor. I think she’s a fantastic actor. And seeing her do her thing on this film, seeing it up close, is really like, ‘You’re f****** good at this.'”<\/p>\n
\nBrett co-wrote the new movie with Jennifer in mind, and the actress felt flattered that he chose her for the role of Jackie Cruz.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: “Listen, anytime anybody writes something for me, it’s super flattering, right? And it doesn’t happen all the time. When I read it, it was funny. It was touching. It was romantic and it had a different edge to it than my other romantic comedies.”<\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, Jennifer previously revealed that she spent “weeks” preparing to play Evita – before Madonna landed the part.<\/p>\n
\nThe singer was desperate to play Eva Peron, the Argentine politician and activist, in the 1996 biographical musical drama film, and Jennifer felt devastated when the role was awarded to Madonna instead.<\/p>\n
\nSpeaking during a question-and-answer session, Jennifer shared: “I went to audition for Evita for [director] Alan Parker.<\/p>\n
\n“I had been practising for weeks and I sing my heart out and he goes, \u2018You\u2019re amazing. You know Madonna has the part, right?\u2019”<\/p>\n
\nJennifer was devastated by the news and she delivered a blunt response to the director.<\/p>\n
\nThe Hollywood star – who has also enjoyed huge success in the music business – explained: “I said, \u2018OK, bye-bye. Nice to meet you.\u2019”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
