It’s June in the Wilmington area (and everywhere else, for that matter), and if summer’s not quite in full swing just yet, it soon will be.<\/p>\n This weekend we’ve got all kinds of fun events to take advantage of, from outdoor plays and concerts to comedy and even a couple of festivals \u2014 one music-related, the other nature-oriented.<\/p>\n Find these and a bunch of other events listed below.<\/p>\n For more ideas of things to do in the coming weeks and months, check our list of\u00a0outdoor summer concerts in the Wilmington area<\/a> as well as our list of Pride Month events<\/a>.<\/p>\n Live music: <\/strong>These outdoor summer concerts will rock the Wilmington area in 2026<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n ALL WEEKEND<\/strong><\/p>\n June 3-7<\/a><\/strong>: 18th annual festival of chamber music began May 31 and continues through Sunday. World-class musicians will play concerts 7:30 p.m. June 3 at B’Nai Israel (Bach, Mozart, Beethoven); 7 p.m. June 4 at Cameron Art Museum (Beethoven, Loeffler); 7:30 p.m. June 5 at the Church of the Good Shepherd; and 5 p.m. June 7 at The ArtWorks (Schumann, Brahms). Concerts are free, donations accepted. Details at PortCityMusicFestival.org<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n June 3-30<\/strong> at Thalian Hall<\/a>: Thalian Hall hosts the Hubblo Immersive Dome for the entire month of June. The 30-foot dome uses immersive technology to serve up 360-degree experiences. With four shows and multiple showtimes daily: Pink Floyd\u2019s ‘Dark Side of the Moon<\/strong>‘; B\u00e9b\u00e9 Symphonique<\/strong> (designed for infants and their caregivers); Aurorae\/One Day on Mars<\/strong> (double feature about the northern lights and Mars); and Close Encounters\/Total Eclipse (<\/strong>double feature highlighting wild encounters in nature and a solar eclipse). Adriana Hough plays the title role<\/a>.\u00a07:30 p.m. June 5-6, 3 p.m. June 7. 910-632-2285.<\/em><\/p>\n Theater review: <\/strong>Musical about this great American gospel singer is compelling, overdue<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n June 5-28<\/strong> at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater<\/a>: Cape Fear Shakespeare opens its 34th year of free June performances at Greenfield Lake with one of The Bard’s most beloved plays. Caylan McKay, who helmed CFS’s excellent 2025 production of “Macbeth<\/a>,” directs. 6:30 p.m. gates, 8 p.m. show, Friday-Sunday and June 12, 14, 19-21 and 26-28<\/em>. Youth company performance of “Twelfth Night” is June 15-18 and 22-25. Free, donations accepted, picnics allowed.<\/em><\/p>\n June 5-6<\/strong>, Carolina Beach Boardwalk<\/a>: The 40th annual festival kicks off Friday, with the Hair Trigger band playing ’80s tunes on the Boardwalk’s Gazebo Stage. The festival’s big day is Saturday<\/a> on the strand, with\u00a0The Tams, The Band Of Oz<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Jim Quick & Coastline<\/strong>. 6:30-9:30 p.m. June 5, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. June 6.\u00a0Friday is free, tickets for Saturday are $35 in advance, $40 day of show, free for kids 10 and under.<\/em><\/p>\n Shaggin’ in the sand: <\/strong>This year’s Carolina Beach Music Festival to celebrate a big milestone<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n June 3-11<\/strong> at Thalian Hall<\/a>: Four new movies hit the big screen at Thalian Hall this week. Three are new releases: horror film “Hokum” (June 3-6), about a writer visited by a witch; “Omaha” (June 3-5), about a father who takes his kids on a mysterious cross-country trip; and “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” the sequel to the popular fashion flick. Also, David Lynch’s spellbinding “Mulholland Dr.” screens June 3-4 for its 25th anniversary. For showtimes and tickets, go to ThalianHall.org<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n June 5-7<\/strong> at the Hannah Block 2nd Street Stage<\/a>: Thalian Association Community Theatre presents this classic musical with a cast of performers age 55 and older. 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday, 3 p.m. Sunday, tickets are $15 plus taxes and fees.<\/em><\/p>\n June 5-6 <\/strong>at Dead Crow Comedy Room<\/a>: Viral L.A. comic derives much of his material from his years spent serving as a U.S. Marine. 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, tickets are $24 and $36.<\/em><\/p>\n FRIDAY<\/strong><\/p>\n June 5 <\/strong>at Airlie Gardens<\/a>: First concert of the year for this popular series has the band reSoul playing dance and party tunes. 6-8 p.m. Friday, advance ticket purchase required. Parking is off-site at the Northeast Library, 1241 Military Cutoff Road, with free shuttle service starting at 5 p.m. Chairs, blankets and\u00a0picnics are allowed, and guests can purchase food and beverages. Tickets are $10, $3 for ages 4-12, free for ages 3 and under.\u00a0910-798-7700.<\/em><\/p>\n June 5 <\/strong>at Satellite Bar & Lounge<\/a>: Worlds will collide when Wilmington’s Fort Lowell Records brings in this desert rock band from Tuscon, Arizona, where the label began. Expect lots of guitars, with elements of shoegaze, noise rock and pop. 8 p.m. Friday, free.<\/em><\/p>\n June 5<\/strong> at The Eagles’ Dare<\/a>: Nothing else will matter when Metallica tribute band Mocktallica plays this weekly outdoor concert series with openers To Begin Anew. 5 p.m. gates, 6:30 p.m. opener, 8 p.m. headliner. Free.<\/em><\/p>\n SATURDAY<\/strong><\/p>\n June 6 <\/strong>at the Stanley Rehder Carnivorous Plant Garden<\/a>: The N.C. Coastal Land Trust hosts its 16th annual celebration of carnivorous plants native to the Wilmington area.
