Scott Pelley <\/b>was fired from CBS\u2019 60 Minutes <\/i>after an allegedly tense standoff with executive producer Nick Bilton.<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cYou should hear this from me first. We have parted ways with Scott Pelley,\u201d a note distributed to CBS staffers<\/span><\/a> and obtained by The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> in June 2026 read. \u201cI know how much Scott meant to many of you, and I don\u2019t say this lightly. I made repeated attempts to have direct conversations with him over the weekend, and this afternoon I tried to find common ground. That was not the path Scott chose.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pelley allegedly questioned Bilton\u2019s appointment as the new 60 Minutes <\/i>EP during a recent staff meeting, per leaked audio.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt 60 Minutes<\/i>, we have fought harder than anyone knows to save the program that became an American icon. We owed that to our millions of viewers,\u201d the veteran journalist said in a statement after his firing. \u201cI am deeply moved by the thousands of wishes we have received to \u2018keep up the good fight.\u2019 Most of the men and women of CBS News are still in that fight, but now the collapse of values at the top has become untenable.\u201d<\/p>\n
