Season 4 ended with Ty and Annie, Dana Sue’s (Brooke Elliott) daughter, finally admitting their feelings for each other \u2014 but a lot of questions remained about their future, as Annie was heading off to college in California, while Ty was planning a tour with his band in Europe.<\/p>\n
Showrunner Sheryl J. Anderson spoke to Netflix’s Tudum<\/a> after season 4 and addressed Ty and Annie’s future specifically.<\/p>\n“It\u2019s easy to believe that it\u2019s all Disney princesses and starlit moments from here on in,\u201d she said. \u201cWe wanted to have them value their individual dreams, but also look at, \u2018What does that do to us as a couple? Can we be mature enough to give each other that space?\u2019”<\/p>\n
“We know that people are really behind this relationship, but we just thought it would be false to say, \u2018And now everything\u2019s fine.\u2019 Because good relationships take work,” she said.<\/p>\n
