\n\tPeabo Bryson<\/a>, the velvety smooth-voiced singer who became a R&B mainstay in the 1970s and 1980s and was immortalized to Disney fans worldwide for his pop renditions of 1990s classics, died Tuesday<\/a> (June 2) at age 75. The Grammy Award-winning singer had suffered a stroke in the days prior.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cWith broken hearts and profound sadness, the family of two-time Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and balladeer, Peabo Bryson, announces his passing,\u201d a statement from Bryson\u2019s family read. \u201cHe transitioned peacefully at 5:00 p.m. ET on the evening of Tuesday, June 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and those closest to him.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tRobert Peapo Bryson \u2014 the nickname \u201cPeabo\u201d came from an early musical mentor, Moses Dillard, who had trouble pronouncing his given middle name \u2014 first entered the Billboard<\/em> charts in 1976 with \u201cDo It With Feeling,\u201d a collaboration with Michael Zager\u2019s Moon Band that reached No. 25 on the Hot R&B\/Hip-Hop Songs chart and became Peabo\u2019s first Billboard Hot 100<\/a> placement, with a No. 94 peak.<\/p>\n \n\tOver the next decade-plus, Bryson emerged into a constant R&B hitmaker, building a r\u00e9sum\u00e9 of top 10 appearances. Successes included his own solo material, such as the No. 1 singles \u201cShow & Tell\u201d (1989) and \u201cCan You Stop the Rain\u201d (1991), while \u201cReaching for the Sky\u201d (No. 6, 1978), \u201cI\u2019m So Into You\u201d (No. 2, 1979) and \u201cIf You\u2019re Ever in My Arms Again\u201d (No. 6, 1984) earned high positions. In addition, the powerhouse vocalist also teamed with R&B legends for stirring duets.
