TUCSON \u2014 This summer solstice, the whole city becomes a stage. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Make Music Tucson returns Sunday, June 21, with a free citywide day of live performances in parks, plazas, neighborhoods and public spaces across Tucson. <\/p>\n
The event is facilitated by the City of Tucson Office of Cultural Affairs and is part of Make Music Day, a global celebration held every June 21 in more than 1,000 cities worldwide. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Every performance is free and open to the public. <\/p>\n
The event is designed to welcome everyone, from professional musicians to first-time performers to anyone who just wants to listen. Students, amateurs, educators, music collectives and seasoned artists are all encouraged to participate, city officials said. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Musicians and venues sign up through an online matching platform, where each creates a profile and connects with potential partners. <\/p>\n
Host venues can list their preferred genres, available equipment and how long they’d like to host. Artists can share sound bites and describe the music they perform. Once both sides agree on a performance, it gets added to a live interactive map on the event website for the public to explore. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Make Music Tucson staff help finalize performance details, assist venues with permits and promote the festival through print, online and social media channels. <\/p>\n
