HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) \u2014\u00a0Hendersonville\u00a0is known as the City by the Lake, and its scenic views and quiet charm have long attracted some of country music\u2019s biggest names.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve had everyone from Trisha Yearwood, Kelly Clarkson, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Barbara Mandrell, Vince Gill \u2014 and he still\u00a0plays\u00a0at the Opry all the time,\u201d Kendall\u00a0Sarapas, director of business development with Sumner County Tourism<\/a><\/strong>, said.<\/p>\n Those are just a few of the stars who have called Hendersonville home.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you see someone famous out and about, it\u2019s not unusual at all,\u201d Sarapas said.<\/p>\n \ud83d\udce7\u00a0Have breaking news come to you:\u00a0Subscribe to News 2 email alerts<\/a><\/strong> \u2192<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n It\u2019s\u00a0one of the reasons some tourists\u00a0make a stop in Hendersonville\u00a0when they visit Music City.<\/p>\n \u201cWe see about 500,000 tourists at Johnny Cash\u2019s gravesite a year,\u201d\u00a0Sarapas\u00a0said.\u00a0<\/p>\n Sarapas leads\u00a0Johnny\u00a0Cash<\/a><\/strong> tours\u00a0with\u00a0Sumner\u00a0County\u00a0Tourism, so she knows quite a few interesting facts about the Man in Black.<\/p>\n \u201cWe go to\u00a0Johnny Cash\u2019s\u00a0house, and I explain about all of his exotic pets \u2014 which a couple are still there,\u201d Sarapas said. \u201c\u2026The fun ostrich story about how Johnny Cash almost got killed by an ostrich.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s\u00a0just one story she often tells\u00a0about the star during her tours.<\/p>\n \u201cHow many albums do you think a normal artist can do in their lifetime?\u201d Sarapas said. \u201cBecause he did 97 albums, which\u00a0is\u00a0insane.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s\u00a0also well known that\u00a0Taylor\u00a0Swift<\/a><\/strong> lived in\u00a0Hendersonville\u00a0for some time<\/a><\/strong> when she was growing up.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cShe went to high school here and she graduated high school here,\u201d Sarapas said. \u201cShe filmed [the] \u2018You Belong With Me\u2019 music video here in Hendersonville, and her dad still lives here, so you can see him around town.\u201d<\/p>\n News 2 sat down with\u00a0Sarapas\u00a0at\u00a0Kid\u00a0Kingdom \u2014 a park Swift\u00a0donated\u00a0to\u00a0help rebuild Memorial\u00a0Park\u00a0after the devastating floods\u00a0in 2010. Across the street is The Oak Ridge Boys bridge<\/a><\/strong>. Members of\u00a0the quartet\u00a0still live in\u00a0Hendersonville\u00a0today.<\/p>\n \u201cIt all started in about the \u201960s, so during the \u201960s, a lot of people\u00a0who were living in Nashville felt it was either dangerous or they wanted a little bit of land to be able to go have a farm like Johnny Cash,\u201d Sarapas said.<\/p>\n
