As Prince William pulled a pint at the Prince of Peckham Pub, he
\npledged to support public houses and the communities they
\nfoster.<\/p>\n

The Prince of Wales carried out engagements in South London on
\nWednesday to spotlight how communities are responding to issues
\nranging from poverty and social isolation to youth-led social
\nchange.<\/p>\n

At the Prince of Peckham Pub, the future king joined a Chatty
\nPatty session\u2014a weekly meeting to encourage the community to
\nsocialise and interact with people\u2014and spoke of how public houses
\nare the \u201cglue and fabric\u201d<\/em> of communities in the United
\nKingdom.<\/p>\n

William said:
\n\u201cI love pubs. I want to do as much as I can to support pubs
\nbecause I love the community. We need to protect our
\npubs.\u201d<\/em><\/h5>\n

The Prince of Peckham teased their royal visit on their social channels<\/a>,
\nwriting that they had a \u201chuge surprise\u201d<\/em> for anyone
\nattending the Chatty Patty gathering. Founded in 2017 by Clement
\nOgbonnaya, the pub aims to be a \u2018pub for all\u2019 and hosts many events
\nthroughout the year to help combat isolation and loneliness.<\/p>\n

Ogbonnaya told reporters that William\u2019s visit will help put
\nChatty Patty on the map, and that \u201cwe want Chatty Patty to
\nexist not just in Peckham but all around London.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

He added: \u201cThe key thing [William] was talking about was how
\ndo we, because there are a lot of disenfranchised young black
\nBritons in the country, how do we address that \u2013 how do we get more
\nof these spaces with all of this energy, all this love and
\nenthusiasm throughout the whole of London.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

While there, William tried his hand at pulling a pint of Red
\nStripe lager with Ogbonnaya. The future king commented \u201cnot
\nbad\u201d<\/em> when he placed his glass next to the owner\u2019s, and
\nOgbonnaya joked with reporters about the pressure he\u2019d felt to pour
\nbetter.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe pressure was on, I\u2019m not going to lie. He can\u2019t beat
\nme, he can\u2019t pour a better pint than me, but it wasn\u2019t too far
\noff.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n


\nPrince William<\/a> met with community members during his visit, and
\nalso had a lunch of jerk chicken and plantain that he raved about
\non the way out the door. \u201cThe jerk chicken, it blew my mind.
\nI\u2019m hoping Deliveroo can deliver this to Windsor.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
