MMA fighter Hrishikesh Koloth<\/strong> died last month<\/a> in a fatal black bear attack. He was 27.<\/p>\n

Koloth, who was working on a mining site in Canada, died on May 8, multiple outlets<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n

The young worker, originally from Kerala, India, was an independent contractor for UraniumX Discovery Corp. He was working at the exploration company\u2019s site approximately 50 miles northeast of Points North Landing in central Saskatchewan, when he was attacked and killed by the bear.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are deeply saddened by this tragic loss,\u201d UraniumX CEO Esen Boldkhuu<\/strong> said in a statement<\/a> at the time. \u201cOur thoughts and deepest condolences go out to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tKatsumi Sasazaki, a highly respected professional wrestling referee in Japan, has been killed in a bear attack.\u00a0 Sasazaki, 60, went missing while working at Semi Onsen, a hot spring resort in Kitakami, Iwate, Japan, on Thursday, October 16, according to The Asahi Shimbun. The resort\u2019s manager noticed Sasazaki was missing around 11:15 a.m. on Thursday [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The company added, \u201cThe safety and well-being of our employees, contractors, and all personnel working on our projects is, and will always remain, our highest priority. We commend the rapid response of our on-site team, service providers, and emergency responders who attended the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n

The provincial Ministry of Community Safety told CBS News<\/em><\/a> in a statement that same month that the black bear involved in the incident \u201cwas euthanized by a civilian on scene prior to officers arriving.\u201d (The bear was transported to a regional veterinary college for a necropsy, otherwise known as an autopsy for animals.)<\/p>\n

The region is reportedly home to both black bears and grizzly bears, and although fatal attacks are not common the Saskatchewan government issued a reminder about bear safety the day Koloth was killed.<\/p>\n

\u201cBlack bears are intelligent and ruled by their stomachs. Limiting attractants is the most effective way to reduce these interactions,\u201d the authorities warned, according to CBS News<\/em>, noting that campsites and homes near the woods can become hunting grounds for the animals when they\u2019re hungry.<\/p>\n

In the wake of the tragedy, UraniumX temporarily shut down its field operations and activities in the area as the company worked with authorities on the ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Hrishikesh\u2019s loved ones, including brother Arjun Koloth<\/strong>, are mourning his death by speaking about his dreams and legacy.<\/p>\n

Hrishikesh, who was living with his brother, was residing in Penticton, British Columbia, prior to his death, with hopes of becoming an MMA fighter<\/a>. (Hrishikesh was set to start a new boxing coach job in June.)<\/p>\n

Arjun told CBC<\/em><\/a> that his late brother was training in martial arts in Penticton and \u201ceverybody had high hopes on him.\u201d He noted, \u201cIt shouldn\u2019t have been like this.\u201d<\/p>\n
