Influencer couple Jesse <\/b>and Ashley Ridgway <\/b>reveal they recently decided to end her pregnancy<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis week, my wife and I made the very difficult decision to terminate the pregnancy due to Trisomy 21,\u201d Jesse, 33, wrote via his Instagram Stories on Wednesday, June 3. \u201cThe choice was not made lightly. We really appreciate all of the personal stories that you guys shared with us, especially the unconditional support we receive from fans with no matter what we decided.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jesse and Ashley, 31, announced in March that they were expecting their first baby<\/a>, later discovering that the fetus had Down syndrome.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were so excited to celebrate the gender reveal in a Psycho video with you guys, but in true \u2018art imitates life\u2019-fashion \u2026 there had to be a dark twist,\u201d Jesse wrote via Instagram<\/span><\/a> in April. \u201cThe same genetic testing that told us our baby would be a boy revealed to us that he had a 95 percent chance to be born with Down syndrome.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Jesse, the couple was \u201crocked by the results.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cStill processing to this day, but we couldn\u2019t be more grateful for all the support we\u2019ve received over this past week,\u201d he explained at the time. \u201cDown syndrome carries a very HIGH risk of miscarriage and usually comes with heart defects, structural abnormalities, developmental issues, shorter lifespan, etc. As excited as we are to become parents, this was a gut-punch.\u201d<\/p>\n

After a separate amniocentesis test confirmed the baby had Down syndrome<\/a>, Jesse and Ashley opted to terminate the pregnancy.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know some of you may be very disappointed to hear this news. We are devastated,\u201d Jesse wrote on Wednesday. \u201cThis has been extremely traumatic for both of us, especially Ashley.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jesse explained that Ashley \u201cunderwent the procedure\u201d earlier this week and is now recuperating.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTikTok couple Matt and Abby Howard will not be disclosing the details of their baby\u2019s health prior to their pregnancy loss. \u201cI think we\u2019re gonna keep all of her specific medical stuff private, like we would our other children,\u201d Abby, 26, said during the Wednesday, October 22, episode of their \u201cUnplanned\u201d podcast. Matt, 27, agreed, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThankfully, everything went smoothly, but emotionally we are drained,\u201d he said. \u201cTrisomy 21, also known as Down syndrome, is caused by an extra chromosome. It is caused by an error in cell division, like a glitch. The odds of a baby having it is 1 in 100.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cWhen I first confronted this news, I was shocked but optimistic. If they\u2019re a\u00a0 little slow intellectually, then we\u2019ll make it work. I signed on to be a parent, come what may. I just didn\u2019t fully understand what Down syndrome entailed.\u201d<\/p>\n
