TikTok stars turn pain into purpose.<\/p>\n

Joel Moloko Madiba and Kgalaletso Pleasure Matjeke (32) have become more than just TikTok sensations \u2013 they’re living proof that recovery and redemption are possible.<\/p>\n

Known as the music duo Jusca n Plee, the couple from Dilopye, Hammanskraal in Tshwane, have turned their personal struggles into a powerful message of hope and transformation.<\/p>\n

Fame hid a dark reality<\/h2>\n

Growing up in the same township, the pair didn’tvinitially pursue a romantic relationship. After finishing school, they discovered their shared passion for music and officially became a duo in 2019.<\/p>\n

Their breakthrough came with the viral hit Empa Nna, which catapulted them to fame and even took them to Botswana.<\/p>\n

However, behind the success was a darker reality. Both were heavily involved in alcohol and cannabis use, although they didn’t recognise it as addiction at the time.<\/p>\n

“We were already addicts, already drinking and smoking, and we didn’t know it was addiction until the show came and we realised we were addicts based on how they explained,” Joel revealed.<\/p>\n

A life-changing wake-up call<\/h2>\n

Their turning point came when they appeared on Spinza Aside on Mzansi Wethu, a reality show focused on couples battling alcohol addiction.<\/p>\n

Spending five weeks at Tranquility Rehabilitation Centre opened their eyes.<\/p>\n

Plee said sobriety has changed her life completely.<\/p>\n

“Being sober for me, it’s a blessing. I never thought I could enjoy being sober, create music, write songs or perform without alcohol and drugs,” she said.<\/p>\n

Before rehab, the couple admitted their relationship was often affected by alcohol.<\/p>\n

“We used to fight a lot, especially after gigs,” said Joel.<\/p>\n

Faith and family first<\/h2>\n

On 16 March 2026, they released their 10-track album Before Rehab, symbolising their journey from darkness to light.<\/p>\n

The album includes Shashalaza, a trending song about gossip and oversharing in relationships.<\/p>\n

The couple said faith now plays a central role in their lives.<\/p>\n

“We didn’t believe in God. Now we’re connected with God. We were taught in rehab that in whatever we do, we need to invite God,” they said.<\/p>\n

They’re now focused on building their future together and raising their child in a healthier environment.<\/p>\n
